Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Ephesians1:11).

Faith is the very foundation of our lives as Old Orthodox Christians. Without faith, God cannot fully reveal Himself to us through Jesus Christ.

Faith enables us to know God
It is the key to salvation

The beginning point of faith is believing in God's character; He is who he says. The end point is believing in God's promises; He will do what he says. When we believe that God will fulfil his promises even though we don't see those promises materializing yet, we demonstrate true faith.

faith is both the belief in something without proof and loyalty. Of course, the proof is the catch for most people.

I certainly have belief in things that are not proven. Yes, I have evidence from my lilfe, but that is always up to interpretation.

To me (and this is a very non-Christian view), faith is the belief in our relation with the spiritual. I know that I may be completely wrong. I know that I am wrong in a great many things, but if l do not follow as my spirit leads, I have lost that second meaning of faith: loyalty. The loyalty is not to the One as others tell me the One is, but as I experience the One.

Of course, the atheists then think I am even crazier than the Christians, and the Christians think I am following false spirits.

I disagree with just one part of your asked and answered question.

Faith is for those who don't really know God, faith implies that there is no evidence of God. I strongly disagree.

Faith is believing something to be true even if you don't have direct evidence for it, and sometimes, not even having a subjective experience to 'prove' it.

believeing in something bigger than yourself that you can't see with you human eyes, someting you need to see with your heart and mind, something that requires us to search for, it's something we all need and many lack. it's the building block to the relationship with our creator, a little faith gets you so much in return and with it we stand strong and the mysteries of the almighty are slowly revealed to us. God Bless.
