They all spurt out these horrendous things from the old testament.....what about Jesus's death? Do they not understand that Christians don't live by that law anymore?

And do you know of any examples? Not stuff you've heard of, things you've experienced yourself or seen yourself.

I consider worship as bowing our hearts to someone or something.I think atheists worship self, their own intelligence perhaps. Is this what the Bible terms as self-righteousness?

i know what science has "revealed" and i know there's little to know scientific proof of God...but i know deep down in my heart that Christ is the way, even though the world is constantly telling me otherwise. is this weird? do other Christians feel the same.

Maybe if atheists were shorter they'd believe in God because they'd be closer to him. (God lives in people's hearts and short people have brains that are closer to their hearts.)

What if you prefer to wear small, tight clothing because it makes you comfortable, not in order to be tempting or sinful? Does your god REALLY care all that much?

And why do people dress up EXTRA nice to go to church? I never understood that, not in all the time that I went. If going to church is just like going over to someone else's house, why not simply make sure you look civilized instead of insisting on looking spiffy?

Or is going to church like going to the opera? Because people dress up for that as it's a "special" occasion.

you think that it's more open-minded to accept the "possibility" that God could exist?

Anyone call themselves agnostic because you get less crap from Christians than if you tell them you're an atheist?

I'm sure most agnostics are sincere, don't get me wrong. To tell you why I asked -- I called myself an agnostic for years (even though I thought God couldn't possibly exist) because it helped my avoid a lot of crap from Christians. It was easy just to say, "I try to be open-minded about it. So I have to say that I just don't know." In my case, I was just being chicken. Any other chickens out there?

I guess atheists do not have faith but I'm just curious to find if they have hope in life.Like me, as a believing & practicing Christian, whatever bad happens in life, I know that God is in control of my life & tuns everything around for good.No matter how bad the situation may 'seem', even when prayers don't 'seem' to get answered I can always see the light at the end of the tunnel because I have faith in an unfailing power that far exceeds anything on earth. The hope of being healed, the hope & faith of having my sins forgiven, the hope of living a blessed & prosperous life...& the hope of having an eternal life, these are a few blessings of having faith in a God & it is such a positive feeling.I look around the world I live, people go through all kinds of stuff, some live depressed & hopeless with no one to cry out to, but some have hope & smile through the storms & make it through because they hope in a God who is able.
Sensible answers to this sincere question would be appreciated.

when He decides who gets into Heaven?

As a play on the rapist/victim scenario down the list a bit...

Once saved, always saved, according to fundies. Yet, faith without works is DEAD FAITH. Dead faith, equals a hypocrite, equals not saved.

So, if a rapist is "saved", then goes out and rapes someone, is he still "saved" because he believed Jesus died for his sins?

For those of you who say "yes"... how can you say this when...
But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works."
James 2:17-19

Saved by faith, justified by works! If you do not have the works, you have no faith, and therefore, a hypocrite, and unsaved. Once cannot call themselves a faithful believer and then go and do against what Jesus Christ says (ie. rape, murder, etc) and be saved still.

So no, once saved, not always saved. One can renounce their salvation by doing a work that is against what Jesus Christ Himself said to do...

I have "peace" written on my wrist in four different languages.

Today, someone noticed, and asked about it. I held my wrist out for them to see, and she looked at it for a second, then looked me straight in the eye for a long while. I simply stared back, and she looked at my wrist one last time, before saying, "You're in my prayers."

Prayers are generally directed to God, and I really don't get it--why the hell would GOD care what I have or don't have on my wrists??

Obviously this question is directed at people who believe in God, so it would be meaningless for those who don't. Consequently they don't need to waste their time answering it.

Personally I don't believe in some old guy with a white beard. (In any case, if God is omnipotent he would surely have conquered the tendency to lose his hair color with age...) My concept of God is of an ultimate power or governing entity that maintains the order and complexity of the universe. I don't believe that any book or any person is infallible.

How many lives were harmed as a result of the actions of people like Larry Craig and Ted Haggard....people who cannot accept themselves the way they were created, which is gay....people who are so weak in spirit and mind, that they give into societal pressures to pretend to be something they are not.

Wouldn't their lives be a lot more joyful, and wouldn't fewer people have been hurt, if we just let people be who they are?

Why do we try to force our religious dogma/views onto others, when it may not be another's accepted belief? What gives us the right to force our beliefs into law in matters that are personal and have no affect on others?

I often hear Christians saying... well... God allowed that so that such-n-such would happen...

Why would an all-powerful all-knowing God not use good in order to accomplish his goals... Wouldn't it be Satan that's using evil or destructive means?
