What if you prefer to wear small, tight clothing because it makes you comfortable, not in order to be tempting or sinful? Does your god REALLY care all that much?

And why do people dress up EXTRA nice to go to church? I never understood that, not in all the time that I went. If going to church is just like going over to someone else's house, why not simply make sure you look civilized instead of insisting on looking spiffy?

Or is going to church like going to the opera? Because people dress up for that as it's a "special" occasion.

As much as I hate to use the "the Bible says this" sort of answer, I do believe it's relevant to the question.

The Bible says that we're not supposed to intentionally place "stumbling blocks" in front of our brothers and sisters. Dressing in skimpy clothes is a stumbling block for those whose faith is weak.

As for how I dress when I attend church...I dress much the same way I do whenever I leave the house the rest of the week: Jeans and somewhat nice shirts.

I don't think God cares the way a person dresses, so long as it's not a stumbling block for someone else.

God is not so concerned for your comfort than leading others into sin or lustful temptation.

Yes God really cares for all people, especially the lost. That is why Jesus came to earth to begin with.

People believe they are supposed to be the best they can be when they present themselves to God in His place of worship. I go to a church that dress like they are going to the beach or football game after. God is more interested in what is in your heart 24/7 then the clothes you have on.

Jesus loves you and has a purpose for your life. To grow and prosper you and not to harm you. Do not worry about everyone else and start your personal relationship with Jesus.

He will change your heart before your eyes. You will witness the change from within and not by your own doing.

I have not dressed up to go to church in over 10 years. I wear jeans half the time.
God is
always happy to see me no matter what I dress like.

I prefer loose, comfortable clothing. Does it make a difference?

Dressing in skimpy clothes probably means there is little understanding about the truth that is rescuing the person, whereas appropriately clean and nice or dressed up is a good thing. It is a statement from the heart.

The bible says that we are not supposed to be a stumbling block for unbelievers. The Bible doesn't say you have to dress up to go to church. a lot of the time people were nice pants and a dress shirt. because we just want to look our best for God. Church is not just an occasian it is a lifestyle.

When I went to church a long time ago, I used to wear whatever I wanted. I wore jeans and a t-shirt. God doesn't care what you wear. People are just intolerant. I think it ridiculous to dress in khaki pants and a dress shirt, or if someone were to wear a dress to church. That is only to brag on how much money you have or how much fancier you are. So to answer your question, other people are retarded and full of themselves.

Why do you dress up to go to a wedding, or on a date, or to any special occasion? Some dress up because they feel that it honors God to do so. Many others don't dress up at all. The short answer is, God is not impressed with our finery. What He wants is a quiet and loving spirit. He does expect us not to dress in a way that is sinful or lewd, because we belong to Him, and should honor Him in what we wear, what we say, where we go, etc.

"why do people dress up EXTRA nice to go to church?"
Being an atheist I know the answer; it's all very illusional as is everything else to do with religion cos there's no reality involved.
They know that if they look good on the outside then people will see them as fine upstanding citizens.
Of course they know that 'god' won't care cos they know he doesn't exist so it doesn’t really matter what’s happening on the inside.

We don't were tight cloths cause it might give others naughty feelings.
We dress up so we show respest to God for worship.
Like a friend yes but He also deserves respect because he is our creator.

It is taking care of your brother to dress modestly. Those who don't understand, will never understand to what extent one can be noble.

To be noble is the extension of love and consideration.

As for God, His thoughts are beyond our thoughts. He's the one who created us. We weren't born with clothes on. I think that makes some kind of statement.
