They all spurt out these horrendous things from the old testament.....what about Jesus's death? Do they not understand that Christians don't live by that law anymore?

We are still to live by the law, but we are not punished by the law anymore, we have forgiveness now because of Jesus.

I can say this...I don't agree with many catholics...I am a christian...but I think that all sinners (gay or not) have god's love and forgiveness....I am not a judgmental christian

How can I judge...I am a swinger!

I just know that I have read things in the old testament that blow my mind...things like if you are in an insestuous (excuse my spelling - not a good speller) then every child that descends from that relationship is doomed to hell or something like that....an innocent child regardless of how it was born. I know that inscest is wrong...that is the law....but we are no longer punished in that way...the innocent child is now innocent because of Jesus's blood.

Typical Christian picking and choosing.

In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says that he did not come to destroy the old law, he came to fulfill them.

As you can see, Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn't the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament.

In your book, Jesus clearly states that he is NOT HERE TO CHANGE THE LAW. That law being the law of Moses,

Atheists tend to have far more in depth biblical knowledge than the average Christian.

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17

No offense, but most Christians don't even understand the rules separating Jews and Gentiles and how Gentiles made it into Heaven. Gentiles never were subject to the Law. They didn't even have to know it existed. The law for the Jews and the law for Gentiles are two different laws issued by the same God. Christianity doesn't tell you this, but ask a Jew how Gentiles got to Heaven. You'll be surprised at how much has been kept from you.

I understand the idea behind your question, as others have failed to do. We are not saved by the Old Testament law, but is still applies to us. We are saved by grace. If I lie, it is still a sin but I can still be saved by God's grace and Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

In answer to your question, many atheists will look for a passage to have a problem about and use that as their reason for not believing in God. Reason and logic will only go so far. If a person does not want to believe, they cannot be talked into it. Be cautious though, treat every word in the Bible as scripture, New Testament or Old. There are some things that have changed (I don't need to sacrifice a lamb as a symbol of my faith when I sin) but find a trusted Christian to clarify these if you have a question.

So you pick and choose what laws to follow? So your God obviously was in error making the old testament, since those laws could not stand the tests of time. That would mean that your God is not perfect, which blows your whole religion out of the water. Sorry Christians, you can not have it both ways.

its impossible to beleive in only one. Why did jesus come if the old testament was false? he came to save us from the sins we commited in the old testament, so how can u beleive in jesus and not the old testamament? ooooo, u christians not thinkin aboot things again.
And if u got that then ur tryin to say god had a change of heart?, so he's actually the evil bastard that hes portryaed to be?

if Christians don't live by that anymore, then why do they always cite it when they want to condemn others as evil? And why is it even in the bible; doesn't that make it ripe pickings? Clearly Christians get to pick and choose; one day the bible is "unfallably" 100 percent true; the next it's partially metahpor/allegory/needs interpretation. One day, the OT is justification agaisnt gays, but when it's inconvenient, we hear "but we don't follow that anymore."

Sorry. You cannot have it both ways. If your book is 100 percent from your god, live with it - the good and the bad.

We understand it, we just don't buy it. Biiig difference.

christians don't live by those laws because they are no longer acceptible in today's culture.

but jesus said he did not come to change or destroy the law.

christians who do not abide by the OT are going against God's Law.

jesus did not release ANYONE from observing those laws, regardless what christianity teaches.

In my opinion, as soon as Jesus ascended into heaven, is the part where everyone should stop reading the bible. The rest is totally invalid. Everything else in the bible should be followed faithfully. Jesus didn't change his father's laws. He abided by them.

Why after his ascension? It is written purely by men. Not by prophets, by man. There is my opinion.

Where did Jesus say the Old Testament is no longer valid?

Nowhere. In fact he said something to the effect that not even a dot (or something like that) had changed.

It was Paul who said christians were not bound by the Old Testament. Paul was not god or jesus.
