Not necessarily. I know some devoutly religious people who are fine examples of decent and charitable living. They don't bother anyone.

Not unless they expect others to be so too while following a religion that says you shouldn't judge. I know a devotedly religious women who is just a great person, and certainly not a hypocrite.

No. My Mom is a very devout Catholic. She is not a hypocrite. She is the furthest thing from it. Very loving, honest and content. She has few flaws - but if you did find one - it wouldn't be "hypocritical."

Religion is man made.....and is hypocritical to the Truth
cause no one wnats to hear the Truth..they make up religion to atone for it...
God isnt religious...He is ALL TRUTH...ALWAYS
and its that friend....thatman makes religions to alter that TRUTH !!!!!!!!

If you are truly devout, then that means you deeply believe. If you are a hypocrite, that means you say you believe, but don't follow what you say you believe. They are opposite terms, not synonymous ones.

when one appoints oneself as a spokesperson for a deity, then yes.
some of us can be devout and not only tolerant, but encouraging of contrary opinions.
