The Fires are under control in California but still no rain and the heat continues.

So:
JACKSON, Wyo. — Grizzly bears in the region in and around Yellowstone National Park have suffered unusually high mortality rates so far this year, likely because of a dearth of natural food sources, a researcher said.

Chuck Schwartz, leader of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team, said officials tallied 25 known and probable grizzly mortalities
Mark 13:8: And there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows....
An epic drought in Georgia threatens the water supply for millions. Florida doesn't have nearly enough water for its expected population boom. The Great Lakes are shrinking. Upstate New York's reservoirs have dropped to record lows. And in the West, the Sierra Nevada snowpack is melting faster each year.

America, the picture is critically clear - the nation's freshwater supplies can no longer quench its thirst.
Biblical Sorrows?

Are you ready to be scared? It’s funny how at Halloween we delight in being frightened. Many people think it’s fun to be “scared to death”! But death itself is a very scary thought. What do you think will happen after you die? The Bible says, “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Take this quick test to see how you’ll do on Judgment Day…Ever lied? Ever stolen? Ever used God’s name in vain? Ever looked with lust? (God considers lust the same as adultery.) If you’re guilty of these, you’ve broken God’s moral Law, the Ten Commandments. God sees you as a liar, a thief, a blasphemer, and an adulterer at heart. The punishment for breaking His Law is death, and eternity in hell.

Can you see your danger? What will you say in your defense? The good news is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took your punishment for you. He died on the cross to pay your penalty, then rose from the dead. The Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” You broke God’s law and Jesus paid your fine. So what must you do? The Bible commands you to repent (turn from sin) and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone to save you. Your good works will not help you on Judgment Day. Confess and turn from your sins today—you may not have tomorrow! Then read the Bible daily and obey what you read.

My 'Jesus' bumper sticker seems to cause a lot of frowns in traffic.I don't understand why people hate Jesus when all He did was good to society. On earth He healed the sick, loved the children, fed the hungry, honored the despised, brought down the walls of man-made religion, fought for the widows, wept for the dying, from death raised them to life, touched & cleansed the lepers, defended the poor, lived a humble life, cared for his mother when dying, died an inhuman death He did not deserve, prayed for those who persecuted Him & nailed Him on the cross, prayed that their sins would be forgiven & for those who believe in Him He promises eternal life, rescue from eternal death & promises blessings untold in this life & in heaven. He not only did all this but even teaches His followers to be like Him & do good like He did.The world praises mahathma gandhi & so many others who did sacrificial things during their life but why do people,(mostly the ones who live in the lap of luxury),still hate Him?

I am looking for a Christian church that firstly believes in the Holy Trinity. I am looking for a church that teaches "giving" as opposed to a 10% tithe, and a church that practices ministry outreach.

This definition of myth is from dictionary.com:
1. a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, esp. one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.
2. stories or matter of this kind: realm of myth.
3. any invented story, idea, or concept: His account of the event is pure myth.
4. an imaginary or fictitious thing or person.
5. an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify a social institution.

Sounds like it describes the bible stories to me. So what separates myth from something a religion is based on? Where is the line?

If you don't believe in Baal and He is real, you will go to Hell. But if Baal doesn't exist, you've lost nothing.

Belief in Santa Claus makes children behave. It allows parents to control their kids. Kids that believe in Santa are happier and healthier and get more toys. In countries where Santa is rejected there are fewer toys and more naughty girls and boys. Children cannot possibly be moral without belief in Santa Claus because if they know they aren't getting toys they will just act like brats. The festive spirit of the entire western world has been boosted by the belief in Santa, thus spurring the growth of our peaceful civilization. Without believing in Santa clause, our youth would turn to crime and drugs and our society would collapse. But worst of all, no children would receive toys and our economy would suffer as a result (and so would China's)

So, by the pristine logic of most Christians,

Santa Claus most *certainly* exists!

I`m not saying that Christians can`t do good for the sake of doing good. That would be absurd. My question is - can an act of good will done because God commanded it or because a person wants to be a good Christian - be considered alturistic?

That includes all of the Christian charity drives, Mother teresa missions, etc...

I have heard people say the Bible doesn't support slavery. I know there are lots of verses and stories about owning slaves, how to treat your slaves, selling your slaves, etc. I would like to know if there is one single verse or chapter that actually says that slavery is wrong. And it can't be a verse that needs to be interpreted, it has to say in a plain language that slavery is wrong.
