My 'Jesus' bumper sticker seems to cause a lot of frowns in traffic.I don't understand why people hate Jesus when all He did was good to society. On earth He healed the sick, loved the children, fed the hungry, honored the despised, brought down the walls of man-made religion, fought for the widows, wept for the dying, from death raised them to life, touched & cleansed the lepers, defended the poor, lived a humble life, cared for his mother when dying, died an inhuman death He did not deserve, prayed for those who persecuted Him & nailed Him on the cross, prayed that their sins would be forgiven & for those who believe in Him He promises eternal life, rescue from eternal death & promises blessings untold in this life & in heaven. He not only did all this but even teaches His followers to be like Him & do good like He did.The world praises mahathma gandhi & so many others who did sacrificial things during their life but why do people,(mostly the ones who live in the lap of luxury),still hate Him?

Good question! I think a similar question was asked here before & I also understand that your question is not concerning your bumper sticker or the traffic as some here have digressed to.Your question seems v genuine as we do come across Jesus haters in this country & all over the world as much as there are folks who are willing to die for Him.Some here, have denied that He even existed which surprises me since history itself testifies & this apart from the Bible. In fact our very time line AD & BC is enough evidence that He existed. To answer your question from His own words refer to the book of John chap 15 which reads as follows
17. "These things I command you, that you love one another.
18. "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
19. "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20. "Remember the word that I said to you, `A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
21. "But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
22. "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
From the time of creation, satan attempted to reverse & pervert all that God did.Right now he is working on the way man thinks. But we as Chrisians are called to love our enemies & pray for those who persecute us & pray for the eyes of their hearts to be enlightened.
I am not blaming them in their thinking as I too once thought that way.My popularity as a rock musician, the money & that fans did not give me peace.I finally found peace when I found Jesus.Today I live a life of joy & assurance that I am on the right path.My prayers get answered.I am blessed beyond measure more than ever because I have a personal relationship with God,religion cannot give me.It is time the world realized that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with God.

I'm agnostic ( undecided ) Some people just hate the idea of having to follow rules by some body who's said to be perfect but has people sinning just to get people to follow him and not sin. Hypocritical I think. Also how can you live your whole life devoted to some thing that has no proof of existing except for some book written by a man who, who's to say was no different then the original great storie tellers. I've met quite a few people who feel that way. And with all this science and explanations for what happened and is happening in the world why believe or follow some thing completely oblivious?

It is not so much that they hate Jesus. They have turned against the church. The church murdered so many Muslims, for no reason, during the crusades Then they murdered, by burning at the stake, anyone who disagreed with the Pope. They invented the virgin birth, the immaculate conception, the trilogy (God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost)? Give me a break. Jesus never heard of any of this. It was all invented years after the crucifixion.
Continue to tell people how Jesus loves them. A few will listen. I am called, by other christians, "a liberal." I love Jesus so very much. I pray day and night. What is even more important is that I have no doubt that Jesus Loves me. I have a sneaky suspicion that he loves you as well.

I don't think anyone "hates" Jesus per se. People hate (or at least are irritated by) Christian fanaticism and often equate the Christian evangelization ethos with one of a jaded moral imperative. In a secular world where tolerance is encouraged, the idea of pressing a belief on the world is translated as tyranny. It may seem to you that people hate Jesus but really the figure of Jesus is probably seen as an iconic symbol of the Christian complex and attracts the hatred you think you are witnessing. Thanks to the fundamentalist Christian wing in the political arena, the Christian faith is experiencing negative press and negative feedback from greater society.

It's not that people hate Jesus. The problem is that they associate the term with people who are pushy, bigoted, and hypocritical. Not everyone who believes in Jesus is this way, but there are a few who are and have succeeded in making people a bit leery of anyone who seems to be an open Jesus follower. It is the same thing with the bible. It is not an inherently bad book, it's what people do with it that makes it bad.

The only answer I can think of is that they think he does not exist. They do not know him. How can they hate what they say does not exist? Hatred is always a waste anyway. Jesus is far greater than Gandhi seriously, he changed the entire world when he came! Did Gandhi die on a cross for us? I didn't think so.
Keep believing and know that people will persecute you for your faith, it's part of life. Many love Jesus too!

First of all us as humans dont like things or people we cant totally unserstand Jesus who is God in the flesh can see the end from the beginning and we cannot just that small portion is so uncomprehendably awesome. Second back in Jesus day and now he interfered with the sinful ways that they then and we now loved to live in and by (ie our own rules) and he also interfered with the money changers who ruled at that time. Jesus who is the perfect man took on all of our sin and humbled himself to the point of a painful and brutal death to SAVE THE WORLD thereby saveing us from our own selves. He loves everyone but those who hate him and I use hate in the biblical sense not by todays sense hate meaning DISREGARD him will end up in the place of his wrath, HELL.
Most people dont want to deal with that concept of having to answer to anybody...like scientist thrive on doubt as long as there is doubt about something they can fabricate a case such as the BIG bang theory.
There is so much more to Jesus get to know him he is a MIGHTY COUNSELOR and you can learn more by reading the KJV bible.

i don't know if it's hatred.i think, maybe, they're scared.they get afraid when people talk about punishment and going to hell.they feel resentment towards christians, for telling them they're sinners and must be saved.really, what i think it is,that people don't know jesus.they have the impression that he's mad at them.some christians condemn people, and they won't talk about the loving, merciful jesus.i myself am guilty for doing this.when we get frustrated, and someone's giving us a hard time,we become defensive.with christians, condemning people is one of those things that makes us feel powerful.but, the truth is,it only shows how self-righteous and hypocritical we are.and it puts people on the defensive.
it's hard to find the real jesus when people use his name to condemn others.like the pharisees in the bible,so,too many christians, act like they know jesus.if you read the gospels, you'll see that jesus hated their hypocrisy.and he had some pretty strong words for them.
if anything, some of his followers treat him with hatred, the way they condemn other people.a true christian is loving and points people to the loving and merciful jesus.if people could see the real jesus, and experience him as their forgiving and gracious savior,i think they'd be more open to christianity.

Can't speak for everybody, but people probably don't hate Jesus as much as they don't like some of his followers, mainly fundamentalist Christians.

I don't know there reason but if they do than they are pretty stupid. Because by hating Jesus they are refusing to let Him into there heart and that means that they will go to hell when they die.

For a lot of reasons.
Some people feel betrayed by HIm because they've had a tough life.
Some people feel that they are above what the Bible teaches to be true and that the rules don't apply to them.
Some people just don't understand and that makes Jesus a scary thing, and people learn to hate what they fear.
And sometimes it's a hate instilled by others.
