Oh, absolutely. I love how you write that, too. Great word choices. The spiritual value for me is when two people think something is funny, and they laugh together, they immediately forge a connection that they will never forget. You remember when you laughed about something with someone.

My god loves humor to the point of cruelty. It is not always a good idea to get his attention.
I posted a series of questions on Y!A about humor in religious text and by classical leaders of religion. I was told that humor does not belong in a religions text.
I think that the real people who became religious idols must have had humor even if it was rarely (never) recorded.
Jesus cracked a few jokes, but it looks like none of his disciples got them.
That is one of may reasons I am sure that that is not my path.

Both jokes and spirituality make people feel better, that's why they turn to them. I think jokes are a way to show people that life is meant to be enjoyed, not as a slave to our burdens.
I don't have much of a sense of humor, but I do appreciate those who do.

People turn to spirituality to make themselves feel better. Jokes do the same. I'd say it was a shame they didn't have a few more comedians in OT times. Is there a single joke in any religious text? One?

I don't know about the spiritual value, but it's certainly good for my mental health to laugh a lot, especially at myself.
My neuro disability causes more laughter than anguish since I've learned to accept it.

A good laugh can bring enlightenment. That's about as spiritual as I get.

Well, people don't seem to like it on r&s. I try to use on this or any sensitive topic but folks here are pretty dry. To answer - yes, humor takes you right out of your context.

The pleasure of a big laugh is heaven on earth, in my opinion. If there are no jokes in the afterlife, I ain't goin'.

Yes humor helps us get over the bumps and makes them seem less bone-jarring.
