I mean, I am not attacking anybody here. I'm just saying that I find life more pleasant when I am able to keep a good attitude and not try to argue or get angry over someone else's opinion. I believe that God loves atheist! And I believe he wants them to make it as much as me! So; I don't want to totally destroy an oportunity to at least be kind to them! And to show them that I am doing the best I can to be a caring person. They are people! I mean, why should I be disrespectful or show them my bad side all the time? I find it rather arrogant to constantly see another person as an opponent. Your true opponent is Satan! I have questioned myself at times. Thinking: "why did I say that?" I mean it does nothing but increase hostility towards me! Besides, My goal in life is to be an honest true child of God! And a true child of God loves his enemies! To say an Athiest cannot find heaven is a lie! Anyone who chooses to repent and find God is welcome to his kingdom!

okay do I really need to believe everything in the bible? I will admit that it does make sense to me that a higher power made the world and everything, but a lot of things in the bible just dont make sense. so do I really need to believe all that? or can I just believe theres a higher power? Or is god just that picky to where he wants me to worship him a certain way?

I ask, because this statement among others was made in answer to a recent question about what Catholics believe:

"Catholics believe in God and Jesus but they don't have a personal relationship with Him."

If the key word here is "personal", then I assume that no one is really able to evaluate, critique, describe, define, grade, or otherwise judge such a relationship ... except those who are party to it. That would be Jesus and, in this particular case, me.

But for the sake of some fundamentalists who are obviously concerned for us on this score, would any other Catholics who know Jesus on a personal basis care to weigh in?

Of course, others are welcome to the two points as well ...

I grew up as a baptist fundamentalist. Some on R&S are accussing fundies for being close minded and ect. I am not saying I am agreeing with all the fundies. Some are ignorant and unneccessarilly blatant and "unloving" in their questions and answers.

Why are we stereotyped this way then?

Personnally I only believe what the Bible says. Does this make me a close-minded Christian?

Romans 3:4
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

I see it like this: If God did not want certain animals to be here (Such as Lions, Tigers, Cougars, Bears, Wolves, ect.) He would not have created them! I am strongly against cruelty or killing animals unless you are gonna eat that animal, or you are protecting yourself and your family! I do not believe it is right for anyone to go out and kill the wonderful creatures that God created for no reason! I mean like making a bear rug in your home or having all of these trophies on your wall! I believe it would not be right to wipe out an animal to the point of extinction. If God instructed Noah to bring Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Cougars, Bears ect. on the Ark, then that tells me God wanted those animals to be here! If not, he would have told Noah to just let them drown! I know some Christians who think wolves are evil! What? Jesus spoke in parables! He was referring to "men" when he said "wolves in sheeps clothing" Because men can be like animals! But all animals are already forgiven!

Examples:

I'm a Catholic, but I believe in the right to an abortion.

I'm Christian, but I believe in evolution.

I'm Jewish, but I eat pork.

I have heard many people of many faiths take issue with some of the basic tenets of their beliefs.

In my opinion, given the nature of religion, it should never change. As the "rock", people need to change themselves, not the religion changing to accomodate people.

If you find yourself at odds with some part of your faith, how do you deal with it?

(I don't mean sinning, because that is a fundamental part of a lot of faiths.)

since each one of you has different interpretations, who has the final authority to settle disagreements over interpretation of Scripture?

ok, so there's me, hoping for a favourable outcome in a future event

god, wherever he is, can 'hear' these thoughts in my head. but if he can 'hear' my thoughts, he must also be able to 'hear' the thoughts of millions of other people.

information overload!

anyway. assuming god has 'heard' my thoughts, my hopes for a favourable outcome in a future event, what are the options?

(i) he ignores my prayers

(ii) he acts to effect a favourable outcome

(iii) he is powerless to effect a favourable outcome

this is absolute madness, surely???

Once I went to the meeting wearing jeans because i got out of work late and didn't have time to change. Then everyone thought i didn't appreciate god or the meetings by not looking my best. Does God care that much about appearances? Isn't the heart what matters most? That's another reason why i don't go to meetings anymore
