okay do I really need to believe everything in the bible? I will admit that it does make sense to me that a higher power made the world and everything, but a lot of things in the bible just dont make sense. so do I really need to believe all that? or can I just believe theres a higher power? Or is god just that picky to where he wants me to worship him a certain way?

As a parent you can't force your child to love you. You have to be matter -of -fact about things and train them. As a child they say what they think, sometimes it is hurtful...but you know they just do not understand. As a teenager they think they know all and do not want to listen. Finally, when they mature...they begin to understand and appreciate the rules that you had, the discipline that you gave, and to see that it was all because you loved them and wanted them to have a future full of happiness.
So....my answer to you is "yes"....God IS that picky...but for a reason. And if you do not understand all that is in the Bible that is ok too. The more you read it and ask for God to help you learn.....the better you will see what He wants for you. He created you. He is your Father. He sees the big picture of your life. You will understand more....but start by choosing to believe. You have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain!

I will pray for you!

God isn't picky, remember "red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight..." As long as you believe that he is there, Jesus was here, and everything in the Bible (even though you may not have read it or understand it) is true and wasn't just written as an entertainment piece by some random person, than you are okay. If you believe in God's words, that he actually said them etc, then I believe that He will accept you. People over in other countries who are undereducated can't read, but they know about the Gospel and God. To say that you will go to Hell for not worshiping every single word in the Bible would be saying that all the starving children who die of AIDS and other diseases will not go to Heaven simply because they cannot read.

Just believing in God would put you in the class of those who were God's angels. As the Bible says:

James 2:18-19
19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.
(from New International Version)

But that is not a good class to be in.

Yes. The bible was written and then interpreted by man, it is full of contradictions, especially if you look at the differences between the new and old testament, so that usually by following one part of it you aren't following another part.

As for being told that you have to worship jesus as well or your going to hell, don't see how that can be true since the bible says that god is a jealous god and you are only suppose to (worship/follow/etc) him

Take it a step at a time. No one learns the whole Bible, understands it, and puts it into application all at once!

You want to know all of Christianity in two verses? Here it is:
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. ( John 3)

We trusted Him for salvation at the beginning. What we must do in the future and even now is to trust Him throughout our lives. Christianity is about trusting God.None of us understand EVERYTHING, but we know what we know thanks to remaining dedicated ( which is another word for Holy ) , to Him over time.

But Jesus said that you must first seek the kingdom, and that's when you have peace with God. And that's why I gave you those verses up there. To show you that you can trust God to keep His word. God always keeps His promises.

You can e-mail me if you want to with more questions.

I suppose that you simply could wish to begin be knowing that technology has no longer verified as many matters as you suppose it has. For instance, there may be without doubt no proof that there are a couple of universes. The thought of a multiverse is fashionable and it might possibly resolve probably the most disorders related to the formation of our universe, however there may be presently no solution to experiment to look whether it is real and the sum of the proof for its veracity is 0. Also, the growth of the the universe does lead us to feel that the universe began in a colossal bang, however please realise that this inference is relatively simply the high-quality wager that has up to now been proposed situated at the to be had proof. Is it right? Maybe. Is it verified? No. Even if it a without doubt right, the colossal bang's final result on Christian theology is negligible. Anyway, you are saying that you simply suppose in God. If you real suppose in a God that has the potential to create a universe, or perhaps a multiverse, is it this sort of jump to assume that this equal God had the vigor to ship Jesus into the sector to be sacrificed for our sins after which resurrect him from the lifeless? You say that you simply suppose that the message of Jesus "pleasant" and that the Bible comprises a "lovely philosophical inspiration". This is a abstract of the pleasant message and lovely inspiration: one million) God loves and seeks us. two) We will have to suppose in and love God. three) The reply to our disorders is a man or woman named Jesus Christ. four) Through him comes salvation. five) It is most effective viable to go into into the presence of God via Christ. If Jesus didn't exist, or if he was once a liar, his message was once neither pleasant nor a lovely inspiration. Jesus didn't come to present a brand new philosophy, however he got here as a pathway to God. Certainly his message was once pleasant, however there's no solution to separate his message from his life. They are stylish upon one yet another. Yes, Jesus is the one method into heaven considering that he's the pass judgement on of mankind. God is reasonable and simply, so nobody will have to count on to be handled unfairly.

I don't understand everything in the bible, and so I study it and gain more understanding every year of my life.

Can you just believe? I can't answer that. Only Jesus can. Do you have a personal relationship with Him? When you do many things in the bible will make perfect sense.

Would you care to explain some of the things that dont make sense? Remember, not everything in it is literal, and certain translations word things differently, which can cause major confusion for people studying it.
