We're all people and we all have to work together and live together here on earth. So instead of obsessing over trying to change eachother's minds, let's embrace one another and make the time we have here on earth a little more pleasant. There is a time and a place for atheists to try to explain their viewpoint and a time and a place for Christians to evangelize. I know one thing, nobody is going to change someone's mind on yahoo answers.

...someone else mentioned this in the details of a question, and I just wondered about it.

I want you to seriously think about this. The first knee-jerk reaction I had was that there would be a fewer wars but I doubt that. There'd be a reduction for a while but its Human nature to fight over such things as money, land, oil and beliefs (like democracy or communism). So on a Global scale I think itd be much the same.
Where i think we would suffer is all the humanitarium work that relgions do such as helping the homeless and providing education and those who take religion into their hearts tend to be nicer, happier people more willing to help their fellow man.

So overall I would say we'd be worse off without religion, but that's just my opinion, what's yours?

Im pretty sure it does... you should sin and say your doing it for Jesus... that would make more sense.

Every time I plot and carry out revenge, it does nothing to him but comes right back at me, quickly and swiftly. I deserve revenge but am worried now as I plot 1 more. Did I wrong this guy in a previous life and therefore untouchable by me? Is there such a connection?

A's may not follow God, but they don't follow the opposition either.
A True Believer is at risk. He can, and according to the Bible many will, be tricked into thinking he is saved and doings God's work while actually he is followig the AntiChrist or Satan. Right into the lake of Fire never knowing it untill they get there.

Most of the fundies and BACs I know are self righteous, judgmental, arrogant and proud. They are also intolerant of other beliefs. They think that only them are saved. They are also liars. They twist the meaning of scriptures to suit their own agenda. They often quote scritures out of context.

I am in a situation where I have been hurt beyond forgiviness by someone. This person just keeps hurting me more and more and I am to the point where I feel hatred toward them.
I am a dedicated church goer and believe in Gods word very much. I am just confused about this because I know that God wouldn't want me to be treated this way...I don't think anyway...
I know Hatred is of the Devil but how do you Love someone who treats you this way??

I would like only sincere answers because I have come to a point where I really don't know the answer....

Well I think that virginity is important atleast to me. I always run into the wrong guys and I just made a commitment to the lord and myself that when he sends me the right man to marry then I would loose my virginity. I'm 20 going on 21 soon and sometimes I do feel funny when I tell others because there like you must be the only one left and make alot of jokes. I'm not sure how guys feel about virgins but guys don't stick around when I tell them I'm one. I only had 1 bf and I just want to meet someone who is going to love me and respect me for me. I just want to wait for that special one. What do you think!!!

With enthusiasm and profound ignorance!

Honestly, most of these people seem to have been asleep during grade 9 science class. They don't know the meaning of the word theory in a scientific context. If I had a nickel for every moron who said "evolution is just a THEORY so I don't have to believe it" I'd be rich.
What's worse is that they can't seem to grasp the simple concept that Evolution has NOTHING to do with the origins of life. That's Abiogenesis and it's a very new field of study.
So until creationists learn the VERY basic terms that scientists use and their meaning, their questions and answers will be very much like they and thier mytholgy are quickly becoming; utterly marginalized and ignored.

Okay, so Christians burnt wiccans at the stake. They are scared of us, for they do not fully understand our ways. Yet the majority of christian holidays arae based off of wiccan hoolidays. Plus, they say the USA is supposed to be a place where you can feel free to practice any religion. Yet there is christianity in everything, all the way down to the pladge of aligience. 'on nation under god,' or 'in god we trust.' But what about those of us who don't believe in god,eh? Such as wiccans, so we're spossed to sit back and pretend we worship Jesus christ? Why don't they just take those things out, and leave us to be free of Damn Christianity!!!???

I heard someone say this once. I used to like this quote when I was in my transition from believer to non-believer. Now I don't know what I think about it. Your thoughts?

"The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision."

In other words, do you think the whole idea of going to church on Sunday (or Saturday or Wednesday) is kind of not what Jesus intended?? Do you think that a lot of practices, traditions and ideas in the churches today are unneccesary and restraining or misleading? Do you think that going to church can hurt you rather than help? Do you think that Jesus intended something totally and completely different?

evolution is right and you are a mistake that will disapear when you die and you have no purpose. you cause more problems on earth than you help it.

Christianity is right and you believed in God then you go to heaven and have eternal bliss.

one way you are useless and cause harm the other way you have purpose, what do you have to lose.

For CCD, I have to write a paper about myself for confirmation. I'm almost finished with it, but there's one part I am unsure of. "Why am I requesting to be confirmed?". I honeslty don't have an answer yet. I'm not getting confirmed until the beginning of May and this year, we are learning about Confirmation. So I really didn't learn about Confirmation. This paper is due on Friday, too. Can someone help me?

Have you ever noticed how proud and egotistical some of these questions are? LIke, they think they are smarter and nicer than God and that they can somehow cause believers , by their witty and insulting questions, to somehow DOUBT God?

Question: What makes people think they are smarter or nicer than God?
