We're all people and we all have to work together and live together here on earth. So instead of obsessing over trying to change eachother's minds, let's embrace one another and make the time we have here on earth a little more pleasant. There is a time and a place for atheists to try to explain their viewpoint and a time and a place for Christians to evangelize. I know one thing, nobody is going to change someone's mind on yahoo answers.

I agree with some of you and some of you have just come out of the gate attacking the other viewpoint. I think that's what I'd like to see change, I'm all about discussion but it almost always ends up being juvenile name calling and hate filled comments going both ways.

I can live with that. That is what free will choice is all about--right?

Atheists know where I stand, and they are free to contact me at any time to ask questions or even seek direction if they desire to know God. I do not need to try and convince them, that is the Holy Spirit's job. :)

Because light and darkness don't mix. When you turn the light on in a dark room, the light shines in where you can see, right?

Why would you walk into a dark room where you can't see and the lights are available to help?

A Christian's role is to be a light in this dark world whether we are excepted or not. (Matt 5:11-16) At least a seed will be planted, who knows? Maybe somebody might come along after and water it to a full grown mature plant/tree.

Matthew 5:9 says to you, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

there is no longer a shred of scientific evidence against evolution--------------, geology, comparative anatomy, and another branch of technological expertise shares overwhelming evidence for the fact of evolution, with no longer a shred of evidence against it. YEC have faith existence in the worldwide began with 2, parentless people, and that that's only 6000 years old. each and every time considered one of them spouts this one, people tell them to jot down each and every of u . s . of america Park centers, and tell them that that Kaibab Layer interior the Grand canyon with sea existence in it, then could desire to be a lie.... that it may no longer in all probability be 274 million years old. What YEC have had completed to them is a neat propaganda trick, long utilized by employing Christian church homes, and honestly, copied by employing the Nazis.. "Make the lie vast, make it undemanding, shop asserting it, and finally they're going to have faith it." -- Joseph Goebbels it extremely works. ThoseYEC have faith all that stuff. no longer basically are you able to no longer be a theistic evolutionist, in case you comprehend all of evolution, you for specific can not twist the words of the bible to come again out with an afternoon is something different than the 24 hours even the Tribe of Israel knew approximately. "Day" interior the Torah, meant sunset to sunset. To have faith YEC claims, potential you only are not too clever, nor too properly knowledgeable. there's a reason no scientist is a YEC..............the stuff is poppycock. pretend stuff for adults.

because christians are one of the many religious groups who actively try to push thier views on others by force or by extortion or by trickery.

agreeing to disagree would require them to stop trying to legislate christian ideas and ideals and stop attempting to hide or curtal science and technology.

if they don't want to believe that the moon orbits the earth then thats thier perogative.

I for one would rather know where babies come from rather than telling them people that the "stork" brings them.

problem is, they don't want anyone saying that they come from a mother's womb or that the moon orbits the earth or that homo sapiens date back 200,000 years contrary to the bible's 4000+ erroneous calculation.

they want to live in ignorance, then let them, but they are trying to force others to do so and thats why you will never see them just "live and let live".

Wait...you just asked people on the Internet to stop disagreeing. Have you BEEN on the Internet before? A "Time and a place"? The internet IS that place, and no time like right now.

The stakes are high, George Bush sent my son and husband to war with his God's blessing. They were plunged in the middle of a 1400 year old ethnic conflict that the Islamists seem helpless to resolve. Yet there we are, our men and women dying for Islamic sectarian beliefs.

It's too important to not debate.... I will not agree to disagree.

The time and place to espouse the truth is always and everywhere.

So the question than becomes, what is the truth? That's the problem we have before us and the heart of your stance.

Because most humans can't see the validity of other people's points and yet stick to their own beliefs.

It takes a very smart/secure person to be neutral, and the world is full of stupid.

Once Christians decide to do the smart thing and take all their religious dogma out of our schools and government, then I'll shut up.

It is not that simple or clear cut I am afraid, God has spoken to humanity and appeared in our World in Christ and as Christ is the `Word` of God humanity cannot simply dismiss Him out of hand as if He never spoke at all.
While I personally feel no hatred or animosity towards atheist minded people it would be very wrong of me as believer to close my eyes to their own ignorance of the revealed truth, in fact it would be cowardly.

Yeah some of us are unwilling to change our beliefs, however, there's no harm in having a discussion.
