This seems like a matter of definition. Love can be described as a powerful emotion. Emotions have been proven to be a product of the brain. This would suggests that if all animals died, love would not exist. But not many theists would say this of God.

If you know God then you know about love for "God is love."
And "the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us" and "love is the fulfilment of the law." Romans 5:5; 13:10.
Above, beneath, beyond, abides infinite love working out all things to accomplish the good pleasure of His goodness!
God accepts everyone that comes to Him trusting wholly in the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour. Then love springs up in the heart. There may be no ecstasy of feeling but there is an abiding, peaceful trust!

YES. Reminds me of something Simone Weil said once, and a I paraphrase slightly:
"I know God exists and I know God does not exist. Wherein lies the tension? I know God exists in the way I know my love is no mere illusion. I know God does not exist in the sense that my conceptions and ideas about God likely correspond to nothing that actually exists in reality."
God is love and loving others IS loving God (Matthew 25:34-40). To the extent you do this you are already living eternally. (Luke 10:27-28)

No, I don't. I don't see how one has any bearing at all on the other. If you look at God's actions in the bible, they certainly don't seem to be reflective of love. Nor does all the pain and misery in the world that, if there was an omnipotent god, he would be allowing to take place.
Frankly, that saying sounds as though it was lifted from a bumper sticker.

I don't like that saying. It trivializes the studies done on the biochemistry of feelings like love. There is plenty of evidence to support the idea that love exists.

i think this quote is true because God loves so much that he put his only son threw so much to save us. Everything that God does is because of love, so if you know what love is, then you know what God is

Its absolutely correct.
However with it one need to differentiate between love & passion. Also love and possession. Many times Passion or possession is mistaken as love.

Actually I agree with it, and that's what started me on my path away from Christianity. I know what Love is. The Christian deity is not it.

It's a 'content-free assertion'. 'Love' - of whatever kind - didn't create the universe.
Neither did God, you understand, but it's attributed to him.

It means that god is a chemical reaction in your brain.
It doesn't really make sense.
