Okay, so Christians burnt wiccans at the stake. They are scared of us, for they do not fully understand our ways. Yet the majority of christian holidays arae based off of wiccan hoolidays. Plus, they say the USA is supposed to be a place where you can feel free to practice any religion. Yet there is christianity in everything, all the way down to the pladge of aligience. 'on nation under god,' or 'in god we trust.' But what about those of us who don't believe in god,eh? Such as wiccans, so we're spossed to sit back and pretend we worship Jesus christ? Why don't they just take those things out, and leave us to be free of Damn Christianity!!!???

Sweetheart, I couldn't agree more. But once they have the choke-hold on the government, it's near to impossible to get free. Look back at history, they have always had the "conform or die" mentality.

If they were true Christians they would not persecute people that are different than them and that's the same reason they celebrate wiccan holidays. According to the bible Christians should not celebrate those holidays because they go against the basic principles of the bible and the bible also teaches we should love each other as the way we love are selves. And even more the bible predicted of these false Christians, so the only thing a recommend is don't pay attention to the Christians who celebrate wiccan holidays, persecute other people and do the opposite of what the bible teaches.

You have a point that everything in the USA has something to do with God, but people still have the right to practice their religion, what is their to complain if you have this right. Also you can't really consider this country a christian nation because there are many laws that go against bible principles and example abortion. Besides you can never be free of Christians they're every where, the false Christians and the true ones.

Many holidays are from the pagans, not wiccans.
Regardless, all groups are alike and brought up believing in false teachings.
All of the groups have false teachings, regardless what you have been brought up to believe. Even if you're an athiest, the teachings you have been brought up to believe is false. Sam ewith wiccans, muslin etc. It doesn't matter.
The people's teachings are false, even though the people believes in the false teachings they have been brought up to believe.
God put is words on the earth. God never explained what his words means. People, especially men, have been interpreting God's original words toi their own misunderstandings. That's why there's so many confused disoriented people on the earth. Each of the teachings of the people have been forced understanding.
Look at how many people that can't read. The bible clearly says, His son. People are convinced that the word "his" is the same as "I", "Himself".
The bible clearly says that Jesus Christ isn't actually God's son. Yet, how many knot heads are convinced that he is?
The bible clearly says the angel never told Mary Jesus is or will actually be God's son. Yet, How many knot heads say the angel did tell her he actually will be?
The bibler clearly says that Jesus Christ is actually the father pretending to be his son. An actor, an image of his son.
How many knot heads say he's not an actor, but the actual?
The bible clearly says no man will know who God's son is, nor will any man know who the father is. How many knot heads say that the bible lies, because the disciples and the 3 wise men new knew who Jesus actually is?
None of them knew, they all guessed the entire time. Even when they wrote books of the bible, they were still guessing.
The bible clearly says only God will know that his son is born and living on the eaqrth for the 1st 30 something years he's living on the earth.
How many knot heads says that's a lie, because they say the angel knew, Mary knew, Joseph knew, and the 3 wisemen knew?
If the 3 men were actually wise, then they would have known that he couldn't have been, because no man or angel will know when or where God's son is born.
Christians are like that because they have proven they can't read. What about you, why are you like that?
Those things are actually done by the greedy business men who's afraid of losing a profit.

I find it interesting you werent persecuted by these so called spelling and grammar nazi's because you hate Christians just as much as they do. Yet, I can have a typo of one letter and that is all they focus on lol.

To answer your question, Wiccan is a fairly new offshoot to an ancient religion, Wiccan was not in place during the Witch trials. If you are concerned about the pledge and God being in everything, I would love for you to take a stroll to your local record store, see a movie in the movie theater, or even flip on cable tv. You tell me where God is in all of that. Compared to a hardcore Muslim country lets say where you are allowed only 2 channels, which are all completely controlled by the state which follows Sharia law. You would then know what it was like to not have a voice. I have pagan friends (no wiccans though) and I respect their beleifs, I also know that as time goes on they have a larger and larger voice. They are not persecuted for what they believe. I would stop accusing all of Christianity for your feelings of being persecuted and write your congressperson to have God take out of the pledge or file a lawsuit, make a difference if this is that important to you. I wouldnt just sit back and whine that Christians have so much power, because if you really look at our country, God isnt left in a whole lot.

..... I'm an Atheistic Wiccan.

I think the question should be more "Why do so many Wiccans think these holidays are built on Wicca holidays when Wicca has only existed for 60 years?"

These holidays are NOT Wiccan, honey. We have our own interpretation of them, but they are NOT Wiccan. They come from much older religions like ancient Gaelic, Hellenistic, and Norse.

They do it because for about 1500 years no one has argued with them about their interpretation because their power has been such that no one would dare or they'd be tortured to death.

Why do you think there's been such arguments about this? Because people are tired of the Christian monopoly on these and are protesting it. Christianity is losing members.

Now, for the sake of all things, realize the past and that Wicca is only 60 years old. Its that kind of behavior that makes people think most Wiccans are "fluffys" and if Wiccans don't stop that, the religion is going to die out and, at the very least, be nothing more than a joke.

As for Christians, they are losing their power slowly but surely as the world has more Atheists than ever before and most of them come from Christianity.

It will change soon enough so long as the rest of us continue to protest Christian behavior and point out the logistical and arrogant problems with it.

For the record NO WICCAN has ever been burned at the stake. Wiccan is a form of neo-paganism that was made up in the 60s. If you mean all the women burned, hanged etc in medival europe and later in America, most of them weren't even witches or pagans, they were just healers, whores, old, mentaly ill - basically anythign that some crazy Christian could point at and scream WIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!!!!!

And before that, Pagans sure as heck doled out their own similar hate. Ever heard of the Christians being sent to die in lion pits for pagan Roman's enjoyment? Or (Pagan) Nero blaming the great fire of Rome on Christians.

The bottomline is, a fundie is a fundie NO MATTER THE RELIGION. There is hate, ignorance and intolerence on both sides of the Pagan/Christian fence.

Sounds to me like you aren't making any effort to understand or not fear Christians, so why should they give you a respect you wont give them.

If you don't believe in their God, just don't freakin' say the pledge of allegiance - OR substitute "Under the Goddess" or "Under all Gods." It's a free country - no one can stop you from doing it.

You can't educate through anger and hostility. Only through calm expression of your own beliefs and respect of others.

My friend, you are indeed free to practice any religion. America was founded on the freedom to practice religion. The founding fathers were religious men--the country was founded on the idea that one was free to worship or not worship-but they were religious men. "We are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". They understood that the majority of people in this country believed in a supreme being of some sort--and this country was founded on the rule of the majority. First of all the reason God is still in the declaration of independence, the supreme court, the congress, currency, the pledge and the like is it is a generic God-not necessarliy the Christian God. The bill of rights guarantees citizens of this country freedom of religion-it in no way removes religion from the make up of this country. You wish to practice no religion and that is your right. You can't argue that removing these from the Constitution etc were the intent of the Constitution. The Constitution was written by men who simply beleived that no one should be forced to acknowledge a state religion. There is no state religion in America.

I know Wiccans who have burned a steak or two.................

Seriously, unless you know of Wiccans who have been burned at the stake in the past 60 odd years that Wicca has been around, I'd have to say that you might want to revisit what you think you know about Wicca, preferably talking to someone who actually IS a Wiccan.

The Majority of Christian Holy days are not based on Wiccan Holy days, Pagan Holy days, yes.

You would score more points with folks if you actually knew what you were talking about.

Supposed "witches" were burnt at the stake, not "Wiccans". Wicca has only been been around since the 50's. The majority of Christian holidays are based on Pagan holidays.

And about the stuff about "god" on our money and in the pledge... Do what I do, learn to deal with it.

The Wicca religion is free of prejudice, and non-exclusive. It is possible to be Wiccan AND Christian (not that the Christians agree, but that's their problem), Wiccan AND Hindu, Wiccan and Shinto.

Another tenet of Wicca is secrecy, precisely because of the persecution You mentioned. So when did You all come out of the broom closet?

(BTW, not all of those tortured women were Wiccans. It was an age of hysteria.)

I'm not sure that You ARE Wiccan.

edit --
Many of You are mistaken about how long Wicca has been around. The word means "wise." Wicca is older than Christianity. If You never heard of it before 1960, it's because of the aforementioned secrecy -- nay, PARANOIA -- of a persecuted minority.

another edit --
LOOK AT THIS MESS! So what was it, America in the 1960's or the 1950's or Great Britain in the 1600's?? LMAO! Why do i get the FIVE (or more?) thumbs down? Who did I offend?

NOAH You got it RIGHT, man!

No WICCANS have been burned at the stake. The superstitious people of the1600's are the ones who burned SUSPECTED witches.
I'm a Christian and have been since 1964 and I'm not afraid of some pubescent, pimple faced, flat chested female child like you.

MAJORITY OF CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS are bassed off Wiccan hoolidays (sic)? Since modern Wicca began in England in 1939, when Gerald Gardner was initiated into a traditional British coven by Dorothy Clutterbuck (Old Dorothy), how can our holidays be based on YOURS? Wicca is a neo-pagan faith, a 20th century construct. Christianity is over 2,000 years old, little girl.
I wonder what Esbat rituals you've observed in your young life? Any? No? Didn't think so.

So, you would rather this country be more like Saudi Arabia and have ONE RELIGION....WICCA? And if anyone DARE to spread another religion they should be killed (as the law in Islam). You would rather have everything WICCAN.
When have you been prohibited by law to practice WICCAN? Other than being restricted by curfew laws for children and your curfew set by mommy and daddy, there are no laws in the U.S. that restrict practicing WICCA. If there are, could you cite them? No? Didn't think so.
You know NOTHING about this WICCA religion you espouse, which was obvious from the first sentence.

"THEY"? Who are these 'THEY'?
It's obvious you're a child from your grammar, sentence syntax and spelling.
Now, go be a good little girl and go pop some zits and play with your Easy Bake Oven and your Barbie Dolls.
