in Genesis, and doesn't this story just sound mythological?

I mean, the people wanted to build a tower to heaven? What kind of rationale did these people have? Obviously not much.

And the whole thing about God making them speak different languages...yeah it would answer why we all speak differently and are located differently, but couldn't he have just knocked the tower down and put some fear into them?

I dunno, the whole story just seem mythological....as do a lot of the stories I read in the Bible.

Sincerly,

trying to hold onto my faith.

My question is on what the Prez of Iran said.
They have no gays in Iran..I took that as meaning he does not have any Public outward demonstations of people saying we are practicing homosexual muslims.

Sin is Sin so people of all cultures and religions can be filled with feelings of homosexuality, infidelity, all types of sexual deviancy's that are not blessed in the Bible.

My question is do you think people who practice Islam would be practicing homosexuals if they could? or do you think they just have more of a discipline to Islam and would not even consider the idea?

For instance, a person accepts Jesus as the payment for their sins. they believe in him now, but still have chosen to keep stealing things. They live a lifestyle of stealing. Will God let that person into heaven even though they did not truly repent of their sins?

I believe in God and try very hard to live the way I believe he would want me to live. I believe with all my heart and soul I will be in Heaven with him someday. But I do not believe the Bible is the word of God. and you say because of that, I am not a Christian. why?

Can God make mistakes?

Answer 1: Yes, He can make mistakes (therefore he is not perfect)

Answer 2: No, He can't make mistakes (CANNOT means "it's not possible", therefore, God is imperfect.

What's your take? Can you answer without copy/pasting scripture?

The continued claim, which has zero basis in the Bible, that an earthly authority has been established in one, only one human being is based on the work of Peter. The claim is that there hasbeen a continual and unbroken line of this apostle from Peter until today.
By their number in papal succession, the following gaps of more than one year when there existed no reigning pope:

29-30, 3+ yrs
70-71, 1+ yrs
180-181, 1+ yrs
184-185, 2+yrs
192-193, 1+yrs
196-197, 1+yrs
206-207, 1+yrs
This list is not exhaustive, just what's visible through a cursery view of the list of popes.
"At this point, as again in the mid-eleventh century, we come across elections in which problems of harmonizing historical criteria and those of theology and canon law make it impossible to decide clearly which side possessed the legitimacy whose factual existence guarantees the unbroken lawful succession of the Successors of Saint Peter"quoted from the Holy See's annual directory, Annuario Pontificio

If 30 students in a math class is given a problem to solve seperately and 6 of them got one answer, 5 another, 3 another and everyone else with a completely different response would it seem odd if no one doubted their own answer? I think it would. I think if I was one of those students I'd wonder why we all dissagree.

I understand that religion and math are not the same but when you have a given faith and so many disagree wouldn't it be normal to second guess one self? It seems even those within a particular religion often can't agree on details.

Prominent creation scientist Em Adjineri has recently been studying giraffe fossils and discovered that they conclusively disprove evolution. The giraffes from millions of years ago have short necks, but today's giraffes have long necks.

The fossil record from the transitional period would help determine how long it took for the transition from long to short necks. However, that would require studying transitional fossils. Em Adjineri is a creationist, so she ignores transitional fossils.

The Em Adjineri explanation for the change in neck length is the Biblical Flood. The reason for why giraffes have long necks is because all the short-necked giraffes were killed in the flood. The long-necked giraffes held their heads above water and survived the flood.

Since only the long-necked giraffes survived, survival of the fittest is false. Therefore, evolution is false and creationism is true.

Hello,

Alot of the time I argue with Muslims about which religions the right one, I obviously argue in favour Christianity.

I said how so much is just "borrowed" from the Holy Bible, just with a few changes, and as we know the Bible came before the Koran.

They reply with "Yeah well the Bibles been changed over the years, its not the true word of God"

What do fellow Christians say when "told" this?

Thanks, Stanley.

I am a scientist at heart, and also an avid believer in life after death. One of the fundamentals in Biology is that life cannot arise from non-life, so then did it just occur, by mere chance? All these things in life work together so well. Plants supply oxygen for us, animals supply carbon dioxide for them. If a human wants to build something, they must actually make it.. It will not just appear. I realize that it is hard to grasp something that seems so "magical". Believe me, I have had those days. Strangely enough, it was through reading about Science that supported a creator in my mind. I am pretty liberal about Religion,(I am open to all ideas)and maybe that's why I am not so threatned by Science. And I think a lot of people who behold Science and logical thinking get turned off by a notion of"faith"Do you think Science may one day begin to study the unexplained/unusual?(they are starting to w/ string theory and the like) And do you think that Religions will realize God is science?

Or is it that the pope just doesn't like those types. Ol' pope Pius is sitting up in Heaven at Jesus's right hand licking his chops. Yummy! Israel is a sitting target now that their arch enemy (born-again Bush) has a modern high tech army right on Israels border. Come on binL. Get ready to be the fall guy if H ii goes amuck.
USA saying that they are the friends of Israel is like the cat saying to the mouse "let's be buddies""come on over for dinner".

Man in Black: All right. Where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink, and find out who is right... and who is dead.
Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You've made your decision then?
Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.

because it is an abomination unto the Lord, then why are atheists allowed to get married? What about agnostics? Hindus? Buddhists?

All of those other groups don't subscribe to either gods or the god of the bible yet they're allowed to get married. I suppose you could say they can have children so they can produce more people and gays can't do that, but then there are sterile couples or the elderly that can get married.

Why don't Christians just come out and say they think butt sex is creepy and icky and they don't like it and that's the real reason gays can't get married. At least then the public can say that's a rediculous reason and allow gays their civil rights.

To a terminal disease you have?
Or would you rather say "Bug off" to the person who is giving it to you?

If the person giving you the cure had the same disease and is now cured.....would you realize it is not just YOU who has that disease? But infact everyone has this disease? And if you were cured of this disease, would you want to share this cure with everyone else who has this same disease?

(believe me this is getting somewhere...lol)

The 4-letter Name for Jehovah is YHWH, commonly called in scholarly circles “The Tetragrammaton.” The same scholars interpret YHWH as Yahweh. This is not a bad thing, but the reasoning that ancient Jewish writings had no J’s and thus require the Yahweh pronunciation, simply does not hold water. Note that this rule would require us to call Jesus Yeshua, and Jeremiah Yirmiah, and so on. The names we use originated in the most ancient English, as did the name Jehovah. Jehovah did not require a change way back then, and that proves that he is happy enough with his English Name even today.
