Because he hasn't smote their computers yet. Just kidding.
Kids nowadays are being brought up without consequences for thier actions through lax parenting. If they don't have to answer to their parents, why should they follow the path of God? He is basically an entity in which most Christians use as a moral compass? "Do good or you'll have to answer at the gates" right? Those days are long gone, now all we have are a generation of supergeeks who all belive they are God because of their super ability to flame eachother on the message boards. If I didn't belive there was a God watching over me, I guess I would have an I don't care I'm better than you attitude also.
I really don't care what another person believes though, I just live my life the best I can and try not to kill people in the meantime. You gotta love "Free Will".
Also, differences in religion have historically brought nothing but death and suffering. Christians are pretty arrogant in their thinking everyone should belive what they do. Well, I guess other religions also "The War" and all going on. Just let people choose their own beliefs and let them run with it. An individual being an athiest, muslim, satan worhipper, buddist or whatever has absolutely no impact on my life or how I live it. If everyone just went about "their business" the world would be a happier place.
Maybe it helps, maybe not, don't really care, but it was an interesting question and I needed to vent. Sorry if I offended anyone, give me a thumbs down to make yourself feel better or to prove to yourself your ideas are superior to mine.

Actually, "spirituality" does not always mean religion. I consider myself a spiritual person, but not belonging to any religion. However, that does not mean I am atheist either. So my questions is why you think that religion and spirituality are one in the same? Also, why would you assume that if you are not religious means you are atheist?
Some people like having open-minded discussions. Some people just like to argue for the sake of arguing. The same could be asked as to why so many christians like to jump around the boards that are meant for "new age" discussions. :) I have no problem with people who are warm, kind, and just open-minded to those who do not believe the same as them. Send love, not hatred. (I should have been a hippie in a past life)

All the atheists I know have done a LOT of research on religion.
It's not the warmest fuzziest thing, you know, to say "There is no God".
So you try to find Him first. You study religions. You go to churches. You pray. You get dunked in water.
And nothing happens. The contradictions are still there. The logic is still there.
So eventually, you shrug your sholders and say "I guess it's all a bunch of crap"
I for one am always open to learning new things. After all, if God were to speak my name, I would not harden my heart.
You will find that atheists in general know a LOT MORE facts about religion than most religious people. Strong beliefs of any kind put blinders on you.
So if you have a question about culture, history, anything fact-based in your religion, an atheist is generally a good person to ask.

More often than not Atheists are more educated about religion & philosophies. They have used their mind to evaluate religious teaching and come to the bright conclusion that it is bogus.
Hence Atheists are in a better position to answer questions in an unbiased approach.
There are lot of people here who ask questions that we know the answers and last of all, it is fun to step back and see what religious fundies are bitching about

You must be new.
We come here for the drinks, of course.
*Drink*
When we tried to ask questions about God in the Cats Section, they told us to leave.
*Drinks again*
Christians do not have the sole monolpoly on discussing religion and spirituality.
*One last drink*
You must be missing the definition of the terms spirituality and atheist. An atheist does not believe in supreme beings. That doesn't mean that all of us are not spiritual.

I'm not an atheist, but I'm not Christian either. It open to all religions. And, religions make people crazy as history has proven. Mostly, people just want to push your buttons. =)

A. What's the point of preaching to the choir
B. If they were atheist, they probably wouldn't be here... true atheist don't have religious issues. They just believe what they believe without having to justify it. They sound more Agnostic.
Our issues with the world views reflect the issues we have with ourselves. God has nothing to do with it. Self-righteousness in any form no matter what side you're on is about our own self-image.
I'm not religious, I have just come to know that I don't have enough information to be a pessimist.

Just because people do not believe in God does not mean they are not spiritual.
Also, if you believe in God and are a part of a religion, you should welcome the atheists. Most religions welcome people who do not believe in God with open arms. Helping someone believe in God is your duty. So, answer them, argue with them if you choose to do so. All of this may help them find their path to God.
Personally, I believe in a "higher power" which I suppose makes me an atheist. I do not believe in God and Jesus. I do believe, however, that there is a force greater than myself who guides my actions and helps me when I fall. My Higher Power loves me no matter what, unlike the Christian or Catholic God which is a punishing and vengeful God.
P.S. I'm at work, but I never turn down free drinks!

Well honey, it's a good thing they are drawn to it, don't you think?? Every person on this earth has a prodding to seek God, whether they acknowledge it or now. Some people will be willful and angry at the very mention of God and Christ. Others will seek His face and accept His grace and learn to be lead by Him. It's our duty to be good examples and to speak the Truth to them. What good would it do for us to keep the Good News to ourselves?
