Good analogy. That's why religious people are afraid of rational thought.

Lack of humility.
You need to humbly admit that you NOT know it all, especially when it comes to things that cannot be proven emperically and may be a bit more subjective.
And even if what you believe works WONDERS for you, it does not mean it will work for EVERYONE else.
Some have a hard time accepting this.
I am pagan and I have been married to an agnostic for 30 years. The reason it works is because he can tell me,
"You know I think its all just delusional nonsense." and I would laugh and say, "Well perhaps it is. But it makes me happy and you don't have to participate if you don't want to."
Not everyone allows others to be at peace in their own belief or non belief because they WANT to be 100% absolute about something that is in fact VERY subjective. As a result, they will never be at peace themselves and always on the defensive about their religion.

And they will tell you themselves that this is where faith comes in. Just have faith!
If the 30 students were given the same math problem there is only one right answer. You can't say that about religion. There are no right answers.

It's really unfortunate isn't it... In my experience, I find that many people who are "extremely" religious tend to be people who want NOT to have to think about things for themselves... the attraction is that there's a "prescription" for life that rewards you with eternal happiness... and it's whole "catch" is that you aren't allowed to doubt it... it's like Mom and Dad saying "now if you don't stay asleep... Santa wont come"... and so many many people choose to just "stay asleep" ...
While religious institutions have done a lot of good for a lot of people... religion in general has given man the ability to justify hate, bigotry, war, killing and exclusion... which ironically are the opposite of the teachings of any religion I can think of...

sure, there is a few very harsh criticism coming from the JW camp. that is modern of their literature and additionally right here on R&S. Hadenough: Matthew 18:15 says that, "...in case your brother commits a sin, pass lay bare his fault between you and him on my own." that is a "finished" reality that Jesus offered to us. yet then the Watchtower provides this... "The reporting of wrongdoing is an act of genuine concern for the criminal..." (Watchtower, August fifteenth, 1997, internet site 30 "Why record what's undesirable?") So we began with Jesus' finished reality, extra a member of the Writing Committee's reality, and now our Lord's contribution is seen to be a a million/2 reality! even nonetheless ... ask your self if divine reality that is diluted with the comments of adult men could extremely be recognized as a "a million/2 reality." yet wait ... it gets much extra useful! unfavourable recommendations administration could be understood in terms of four basic aspects, which variety the acronym chew: a million. habit administration 2. preparation administration 3. concept administration 4. Emotional administration "Reporting" the sins of others falls into all 4 of those categories. JWs save their habit in line because of the fact they be responsive to that something could be uncovered by utilising each and every guy or woman at any time. The management has administration over pronounced preparation that can and could be used against contributors who teach to be uncooperative. in case you're meant to record each and every thing, then there is not any could use your guy or woman recommendations in determining what could be printed and what can stay private. final yet no longer least, the consistent worry of being pronounced is a sort of EMOTIONAL administration. Now, Hadenough, per hazard you notice why the Society thinks it is so significant to "record what's undesirable" even nonetheless Jesus advised us to ascertain sin utilising the smallest volume of brothers and sisters as plausible. Does it additionally matter what he thinks? Or will we could get the dedicated Slave's stamp of approval first? it extremely is not pronounced as "distortion." it extremely is pronounced as analyzing your Bible without consulting Watchtower learn aids that permit you be responsive to what you're meant to have confidence. in case you are trying this, you may discover some issues which you probably did no longer be responsive to have been there OR, per hazard, you will view the old preparation with "new" eyes.

To many people are closed minded. Christ promised heaven by believing in Him. He did not say how you believe in Him or what path you take. The religions of Christ (all of them) are right for those who believe.
Other forms of religion though I may not agree with them, have the right to believe the way they choose. It is called "Free Will" If Christ is the answer, I want Him on my side!!!

what if being particularly good at math, you can recognize places where other people might have made mistakes, so you can see places people would be prone to make a mistake, so if you get one answer, you can see why some would get a different one,
like you could say "oh he isn't good at decimals/fractions, so he'd be more prone to make X mistake" and "oh and he tends to forget to carry over, so he'd be prone to making Y mistake" and cover most of the answers different from your own, like that.
or perhaps merely being able to look at their papers would allow you to recognize where they made their mistakes.

it's perfectly normal to second guess your beliefs, your relationship with the divine. some religions, like judaism and buddhism, encourage that kind of debate, even arguing with god.
only a robot never questions, never thinks, never changes his mind. it's not about being right, or convincing others, it's about one's experience, one's spiritual life, and that is a living, growing, changing thing.

Second-guessing sounds a lot like doubt... And we all know what happens to people who doubt, they end up logical! And skeptical! And intelligent! Oh, my!
Lol, a person without doubt is incapable of thought.

Actually, it is normal to believe in yourself and second guess others.
People have a knack for pointing out the flaws in others, rather than themselves.
