All those difficult, challenging questions which theists struggle with, such as the existence of evil, the illogicality of a tri-omni god, the illogicality of the creation story, the origin of morality, the inevident nature of their deity and so on... they all evaporate with the simple answer that gods don't really exist.

If you have to make so many awkward, implausible and unsatisfactory excuses for your beliefs, isn't that a good sign that your beliefs aren't worth keeping?

Mine is the ability to put myself in the other persons shoes and understand, and a sense of humour. This I thank God for.

It seems to me that if someone believes a god could exist at all, then they have hundreds to choose from, and thousands, or hundreds of thousands of religions, sects, churches and cults to choose from. What are the chances that they just happen to pick the right one? They would have to be extraordinarily lucky to get everything right and avoid the vengeance of some other god, and an eternity of torture in some alternative afterlife. Maybe the 'right' god hasn't even been discovered yet, and the 'right' religion, sect, church or cult not yet invented, so they have no chance at all.

Surely anyone who believes that a god could possibly exist ought to be very worried indeed...

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

Why can't it be a mix of both? Perhaps evolution is how the human mind can best comprehend God's creation?

Hi,
I am getting married next year and would really like a Catholic wedding as I am from a Catholic family. The thing is, I live with my fiance so does this mean we can't have this kind of ceremony?

My mum has mentioned my wedding to her priest and he is very keen to organise things with us, but I am worried that I am doing something wrong and that he might actually come out and ask us if we are living/sleeping together, and that once we say yes, it means he won't let us get married in the church.

Does anyone know where we stand and how 'forbidden' this is? Thanks for your advice!

My husband and I do not trust each other at all anymore. We have gone to counseling many times. He has had a bitter expectancy that I would stop loving him so he stopped making love to me for 3 yrs...There are so many extenuating circumstances, I would need to write a book. I REALLY NEED prayer. I need wisdom and strength more than ever!

My Sunday School teacher made this comment yesterday as we were discussing 1 Corinthians 1 - 6. He said, It's better to not believe than to be part of a wrong belief system. In a lot of the lesson he was drawing parallels between the philosphies, and polytheistic beliefs of the Greeks at the time. He also posed the question How is this relevant today? Meaning, can we learn from what happened to the early Christians and Paul having to deal with people who were trying to contaminate Christianity with teachings of "I am a student of _____(anyone other than Jesus Christ)", to include the many splinter groups of Christianity? Is it better, do you think, to be part of a group that has SOME correct principles, and SOME wrong principles, or to not be a part of any group unless they have and teach ONLY ALL the correct principles?

Please, no touting one religion over another, or atheism over everything else. Thanks.

We all know that he was Loyal to Dhuryodhan, due to the frienship he got from him. Even though he knew he was fighting on the wrong side, Lord Krishna himself offered him a chance to come and fight on his own brothers side, but he said he couldn't for two reasons:

1. His obligation/duty towards his friend
2. His Actions against Dhropadi

I can understand he not wanting to fight on his brothers (rightous) side for reason 2. for he must have felt how he could look at the woman in the eye, whom he instulted so much.

But isn't reason 1 just a misguided sense of obligation?

What do you all think?
