as an ex JW I can definately say they are a cult. The techniques they employ to draw people in and then keep them are classic of a cult. Practices such as claiming superiority, isolation, emotional blackmail are all employed by cults whether it be JW's, Moonies or Mormons. They follow the teachings of men who claim to be Gods' visible representatives on earth. If they represent God and are truly spirit anointed like they say why have they in the past said such ridiculous things like ' Jehovahs throne is in the constellation Plaedies', or the leviathon of the Bible is 'the locomotive train' or 'vaccinations are a sin against Jehovahs divine plan'. How anyone can believe any interpretation of scripture that has come out of the mouths of the very same men that said these things is beyond me. Sadly, JW's are discouraged very strongly against researching the organisations past because they are conveniently told that anything produced by any other than the WTBTS is a lie and satans attempt to take them away from the truth. They are constently threatened with cutting off from Jehovah if they displease him by, amongst other things, reading 'apostate' literature. It is often only when people come out of such cults that they really see the truth. I have only started to learn scriptural truths since I left.

Yes I feel that you just belong to a cult that calls themselves a faith. For one they believed "The End" could be round 1925 OR 1975 and while the faith was once mistaken mass humans deserted - Just like a cult. If the Watchtower group rejects others calling them "influenced" but the Watchtower group does name themselves "God's Spirit-directed Prophet" what's the change? In regards on your "Well we're Christians" remark ... Why could the identify God gave to His humans now not be "Christians" for the reason that Acts eleven:26 says, "The disciples had been first known as Christians in Antioch"? Why is the identify "Jehovah's Witness" discovered nowhere within the New Testament, if that's God's divine identify for His humans underneath the brand new covenant? Why could God wait just about 2000 years to all of the sudden begin utilizing the identify "Jehovah's Witness". Does this imply that first century Christians weren't referred to as Jehovah's Witnesses"? I might cross on and on .. your faith is bust for over one million factors

yes they are. they have cultic characteristics, they devote themselves to a self-proclaimed prophet. this 'prophet' only allows them to read literature of HIS choosing. they Have practices that are NOT the norm of today's views (no bday, no voting, no enlisting in army, no immunizations, blood transfusions, no birth control, etc)., they use false agendas and disguise themselves as mainstream Christians to increase membership (act like they read the bible only, say we believe what you believe), they have their own bible. not only are they a cult, but they are a false religion, proven through their own actions. their very own religion leader, C. Russell, and other JW leaders, made false prophecies about the world's end, and it didn't happen. Then they change their views to fit the times, it has now been reported that they allow SOME blood transfusions, and immunizations when people started dying, and losing members! I also pray for the JW. they have been led astray. I pray the God's mercy and grace will allow them time to KNOW Him and SERVE HIm for real. God Bless

Jesus said of some who would claim to follow him: “Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:22, 23)
Some 30 years after Jesus died, his half brother James identified some factors that can jeopardize one’s place in God’s organization. He wrote: “Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4) An enemy of God is certainly no part of his organization. What, then, is friendship with the world? It has been explained as taking different forms, such as cultivating or becoming involved with bad associations. In addition, James focused on something very specific—wrong mental attitudes that lead to improper conduct.

They are a neo-cult. They try and stop their children from having friends outside the JW organization (so do Mormons) but they don't go to general extremes.

Those cliostered Mormon splinter groups are definately cults. Like the one where the guy just got tried for rape, etc.

The Branch Dividians were a cult.

What is a cult? Clearly, cults are generally understood to be religious groups with radical views and practices that clash with what is accepted today as normal social behavior. Usually they conduct their religious activities in secrecy. Many of these cultic groups actually isolate themselves in communes. Their devotion to a self-proclaimed human leader is likely to be unconditional and exclusive. Often these leaders boast of having been divinely chosen or even of being themselves divine in nature.

Do these descriptions apply to Jehovah's Witnesses? No.

Just as all the protestant denominations are a cult, Catholics are a cult. Please look up the definition for cult, you will find the "born again" Christians match the definition of a cult.

I am not a religious person in real life. But I have read in the Bible that God said; that by their fruits I will know them. To me it means that God sees Us thru our Hearts.
