It seems to me that if someone believes a god could exist at all, then they have hundreds to choose from, and thousands, or hundreds of thousands of religions, sects, churches and cults to choose from. What are the chances that they just happen to pick the right one? They would have to be extraordinarily lucky to get everything right and avoid the vengeance of some other god, and an eternity of torture in some alternative afterlife. Maybe the 'right' god hasn't even been discovered yet, and the 'right' religion, sect, church or cult not yet invented, so they have no chance at all.

Surely anyone who believes that a god could possibly exist ought to be very worried indeed...

New scientific evidence discovered in the Bible, Torah and The Dead Sea Scrolls will soon prove and force all mankind to accept the fact that not only the God Yahweh exists but has always been the only God to and still does exist. Proving all other gods and their evolved religions false. This over time will force the entire world to believe in and worship the same God.The God Yahweh. Without Him physically showing up on Earth.

Not exactly. The way I see it, if we were created by a "god", there are only two viable possibilities regarding how he sees us...either he loves us or he doesn't. I could break it down farther...he loves us, he just wants to mess with our minds, he just wants to observe us, or he doesn't give a dang about what happens to us...but all the possibilities break down to just two...he wants to have a relationship with us or he doesn't.

If the "right" god hasn't been "discovered" yet, that's a pretty good indication that, whatever else he thinks, he doesn't give a darn about us. If he hasn't revealed himself to any of us, it is safe to say that he isn't interested in having any kind of relationship with us. If that's the case, then we're all screwed anyway...if he doesn't care, then we don't matter to him and he has no intention of doing anything for us so there is no point in worrying about him...we can't do anything about it!

If the creator does care about us, then it is pretty safe to assume that at least one of the "gods" we already know about is the real God. If he cares about us at all, he would have communicated that to us at some point.

Now the question becomes, "which god"...out of the hundreds (I think that's a bit high but won't argue the point) which one should we choose to accept.

If there is a creator that cares about us, it is safe to assume that he determined the "rules" governing our existence...that he understands our nature, how we work, and what he intended for us (his plan). Out of the "hundreds" of identified "gods", only a few claim to be the creator of the universe...that allows us to easily cut down the list to just a few possible "gods" that can possibly affect our existence.

For me, I chose to follow the God that claims to be the creator of the universe and the only one that wants to know us AND wants us to know him. All of the other creator gods I've heard about don't want us to know them...they want to remain at a distance...they want us to blindly follow their instructions and offer no hope of forgiveness for mistakes. If any of these other "gods" is the real god, then I'm already screwed...by the time I was old enough to make a decision about what God to follow, I had already made more than one mistake that would result in their punishment. My God is the only one that loved us enough that he was willing to become one of us, to live and die as we live and die in order to show us the way to have a relationship with him...he is the only one that offered to pay the fine for all of my mistakes and then to live inside of me to help me avoid bad choices in the future.

I have studied other religions and other "gods". They didn't hold up at all.

I've heard some say, well, christianity is the "truth" for you.
but there is no "The truth for you."
2+2=4 is a truth. This is not subject to interpretation.
One can say I don't believe you have the truth but truth is just what it is, truth.

Christianity has a rich history which started with the jews at the beginning of time. The bible is filled with historical facts that Archaeologists use and has been proven very reliable. We have over 5000 documented ancient findings of scripture, many in different languages, all the same. WE have the dead sea scrolls to prove this also. The Vatican just bought 2 gospels dating 90 ad, the same as we have today. There is prophesies that has come to pass from the bible that proves it's reliability. Over 300 just for the man Jesus.

We have non christian evidence of Jesus from Tacitus and Josephus both historians. And a Governor named Pliny the Younger who all wrote about "Christos" and his followers the Christan's.

Archaeologists have found the tomb of Caiaphas who was the Pharisee that brought Jesus to trial.
Jesus WAS a real person who was an historical figure. Even well read Atheists KNOW this.

We have eye witnesses who had every thing to loose by claiming to be a follower of Jesus. Why? When Jesus was killed they scattered. Afraid. BUT when they saw he was resurrected they became bold. Why?
Since the bible is reliable, and Jesus WAS here you must decide.
Was he a nut? A liar, Or who he claimed to be.

Christianity made total sense and the rest didn't.

What if all gods are just manifestations of a higher spiritual source, so every choice IS the correct one, including not believing in a god at all?

Seems to me like no one is screwed then.

I had a brother-in-law who was a Mormon. He liked me, but had a problem with the fact I am gay. One day he said, "Ray I have this figured out. There are different parts of heaven. When I die I am going to the Mormon heaven and when you die you will go to the gay heaven." So, because no two people think alike it is my conclusion that we will each have our own little cubicle, just like in corporate America. And I am eternally grateful to the Mormon god for letting me know I do not have to spend eternity in the same office with my brother-in-law. He was a total ---hole!

One might presume, if all this god crap were true, that existence here on earth is some sort of a test. Such tests are designed to identify the FEW who have learned the 'lesson' which is being taught. What lesson might that be? Well... consider that this god gave us brains, which (potentially) have the ability to reason and think critically... evaluate 'evidence'... be able to sort 'facts' from all of the input which indundates us... make subtle qualitative distinctions of meaning, based upon 'context'... be willing to constantly and open-mindedly question and doubt our own presumptions.

The fact is that very FEW people are able to do all of that... less that 10% of adult humans. It seems to me that if there is a 'test' involved, that THOSE would be the ones who get to 'pass' on to the next round... not the multitudes of sheep who 'believe' without reason, and live their lives as if gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy and drooling stupidity were holy virtues.

If I ended up standing before a just god, he would not be asking me for an apology... he would be handing me a diploma. It is the BELIEVERS who would be asked for an apology... well... at least, for an explanation: "I gave you a wonderful set of brains. Now tell me... why did you not use them?"

As a baby I nervous approximately that. Now i've got confidence that if there's a God, this is a unified rigidity that sees sturdy and evil and it is not substantial what call you supply it. strangely, between the Narnia Chronicles helped me to understand this theory. In - i think of - the final one, some creature who had worshipped Aslan's foil became into in heaven (or regardless of it became into called interior the books... became into it definitely Narnia?) and between the toddlers asked approximately it. Aslan suggested that it did no longer count number who he became into worshipping: he became into worshipping with a organic heart or regardless of and so the worship immediately went to the "sturdy" God.

Face it, my friend, logic is not the believer's strong suit. One cannot even reason with people who prefer to imagine their own perceptions are the basis of reality and that their own thoughts are real. For believers, the delusion is complete.

I dont let it worry me
I couldnt change my mind based on any fear of being wrong
I arrived at my belief from my own personal experiences
If I changed my mind and went hunting for the safest bet , I am denying my own feelings and experiences
so I will have to deal with the outcome if I am wrong , when the time comes
until then , I am quite content

edit
I do totally understand what you are saying though
