I mean, we can see Nature around us, it exists, you can feel it, whereas god is a concept of a superbeing made up by man...

I'm just wondering. I am a Christian and I've read the Bible cover to cover several times, but I note that astrology is used throughout. In fact, Christ's birth was foretold by the stars and Jesus even said that the sky will contain many signs. I'm just wondering why, now, we're not supposed to use it. Was astrology different back then? Perhaps a different application than now?

Part of the reason I borrow ideas from Shinto and Buddhism is because they don't seem to keep on telling me that I'm some bad person because of a garden that needs to be saved by a guy who walks on water. It is like if I was stuck in a jungle for years and some dude just hopped up to me and said, "hey you suck but guess what they is a guy that can help you!" I hardly know if I can truly call myself a Christian anymore because I do not believe some of the things in the Bible. But then again I used to believe Jesus was my savior but if I do not believe that the Garden of Eden is valid how can he be my savior? And I was told that Jesus did not say he was my savior.

I mean... you dont see animals other than humans believing in a superior being. I mean... "I think" animals only believe in the right here and right now. I think a human's "bigger brain" has actually caused itself as much harm as good.

The war between the israel and the middle east didnt need to have lasted this long... i mean nobody alive now was there when the war started 1000s of years ago so why continue the nonesense? I think if you educate the next generation of ideas of unity then peace maybe actually achieveable. not in our lifetime but it can be achieved by our sons and daughters. Erase all knowlegde of conflict so the next generation can start fresh.

But the problem is we're all selfish.. we dont really care about generations after us. Thats why we're still having the problems of the generations before us.

Sad. But true.

I'll give you one to start off: Samuel 15:3
"Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey."
Please tell me again about how your biblical god is the god of peace, love, and goodness. I can't wait see how you whore your brains to spin it into something that is an offense to all living beings.

This whole weekend has been ruined because since Friday my mom has been doing nothing but going to church and dragging me to. Somebody give me some creative stuff to entertain myself or something to bring. She doesn't know I don't worship her God. Every sunday is wasted by church. What should I do to entertain myself.

So why is it wrong?

I just came from Mass after not going since the 60s. When and why did the following things change? No kneeling except after Communion, also they changed the response to (Dominus Vobiscum) "The Lord be with you". It used to be "And with your Spirit" now it's something else. And why didn't anyone genuflect? And why do they now include that tag on the end the of The Lord's Prayer (the power and the glory part, I was not taught that as a youngster in Catholic school)? And I thought women/girls had to wear some kind of head covering. Many other things also seem different. Arbitrarily changing things which were once taught as fundamental goes against the concept of absolute Faith, which demands that you believe in something consistently. "Upon this rock I build my Church" meaning Simon Peter and also meaning a solid unshakeable foundation. No? Thanks for your help with this -

Are you aware that being told "God Bless You", being told you will you are going to Hell, viewing a cross with a dead person on it in plain view, viewing a TV ad that promotes a religion, being required to put my hand on the Holy Bible in court, saying the pledge of allegiance with the words "under God", spending money that say "in God we trust" on it, listening to a college lecture given by a Nun (in her habit), walking passed numerous churches every day, being taught Intelligent Design in school, listening to evangelists on TV speaking of Jesus, hearing George Bush refer to God, hearing Falwell say that 9/11 was God giving us "what we deserved", and more, and more, and more.... is offensive to me?

you think that everybody else is wrong in their beliefs, so you run around telling other people how right you are?

I see family, but, in reality I could care less, I mean I like, I'm fond of them, I currently have a need for them, but that's about it. I can see myself moving away, and mostly likely never getting in contact with them, mom, cousins, uncles and aunts.

Is this bad? I mean, I don't care much about others, unless it has some effect on me. I can fake sympathy when need.ed

Yet to others I come off as a detached and cold person, one without feeling.

Is it possible to change this? I would rather give somebody, money to stop them from crying, then ask them what's wrong. I'm social at time, I talk to other students, I have a work study job, I'm involved in clubs. But I care very little if nothing about those people.

Is something wrong with me?
