Astrology was accepted in Christian circles for many centuries. Prominant Byzantine theologians actually taught classes in astrology, and many seminal texts on Christian theology open with a description of astrological theory. It was not generally condemend until the 19th century, when it became an important part of the New Age Movement. Christians, however, typically differed from their Pagan counterparts in their understanding of astrology. Many believed that the stars held no influence on human beings whatsoever, and most believed that the stars did not reflect predestined events.
For more information, you might want to read "Christian Astrology" by William Lilly (18th century), as well as the astrological elements of "An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith" by John of Damascus (7th century) and the chapters on Natural Theology by Gregory Palamas (15th century).
The Bible does not condemn astrology (contrary to popular opinion). Verses condemning the "observation of times" actually refer to the practice of divination by observing cloud patterns.

Yes. Astronomy and Astrology are two different things. Astrology is a pseudoscience claiming that the moon, sun, and stars affect human affairs and can be used to foretell the future such as the Horoscope. Only God can foretell the future, but God does put signs in the heavens. Watching the stars has been polluted just like other things concerning the Bible and God's word have been polluted by the ungodly.

Astronomy and Astrology are two different things--yes, God even shows his salvation through the heavenly bodies (the stars, moons and planets) but this is far different than believing that you can tell the future or divine your own or others' futures through looking at the stars in the sky. Looking to spiritual guidance to anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ is a sin.
Deuteronomy 4:19, "And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven."
(DO NOT WORSHIP God's creation--worship the creator.)

Because God said what those stars meant.
Today people just make things up to say what will attract people, so they can get money from them. Truth is greatly laking. You have to "chose between God and money".
There are also warnings against false predictions Deuteronomy 4:19, 17:2-3, 18:10-12.

It wasn't the stars themselve's that they were being fortold, it was God using signs and wonders; and todays concept of astrology the reason why it would be wrong is because people are not looking to God Himself for answers to their problems, they are trying to get answers from another source which would be consider a lie or false teaching.

Have you watched the Zeitgeist movie? Google it. You can watch it on line for free. You should. It shows how the entire Bible has more to do with astrology than anything else. It shows how Christianity is quite clearly a parody of an ancient Egyptian religion that worshiped the sun. Check it out. May peace be upon you. =)

If you are a true born again Christian, why do you need astrology to begin with. Isn't His Word good enough for you?
