The serpent represents temptation, which is inherent in human beings and requires no satan. The serpent, in ancient symbolism, represented that which was base or earthly. A winged serpent, on the other hand, represented the elevation of the earthly to the heavenly. The serpent in Genesis was meant to represent the disruption of the natural order through sin (which is why he is grounded).

As for the Annunaki theory, it was the god Enlil who appeared in the form of a serpent to warn mankind of the impending flood. It was not an Annunaki. The serpent is actually a rare element in Sumerian mythology, but it was common symbol in Semitic culture by the time the Genesis account was written in the 9th century BC.

You have to compare scripture with scripture (spiritual things with spiritual) as stated in:

1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

And once you look at other scripture you can see that:

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

The serpent was originally a creature God created that had legs, but when Lucifer was cast out from heaven and went from being an angel of light to a fallen dark angel for trying to set himself higher than God, he used the creature to tempt Eve, and that caused the serpent to be cursed to crawl on his belly for all time because of satan; because he is a deceiver of all God's creations.

The bible would not point out that the serpent is devil. in actuality, if the serpent is devil, then would not devil ought to circulate slowly on his abdomen for eternity after being cursed by ability of God? of direction, Christians apologist will say that it became devil disguised as a serpent and the undesirable serpent have been given the blame. yet then, isn't God omniscience and ought to have ordinary that it became devil and not the serpent? the reality is devil is merely an unlucky fall-guy for Christians. each and every time Christians can't clarify something, it quite is attributed to devil, e.g. while Christians communicate in tongue, it quite is God's artwork; while followers of alternative religions communicate in tongue, that's the devil's artwork.
