All the world's great religions have the almost identical quote regarding true justice:

* Hindu - Do not to others which if done to thee would cause thee pain.

*Jewish - ...Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself...

*Zoroastrian - ...that nature alone is good which shall not do unto another whatever is not good for its own self.

*Buddhist - Let one say such words by which he does not pain himself, nor hurt others; such words are truly well-spoken.

*Christian - Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them...

*Islam - Verily, God enjoineth justice and the doing of good...

*Baha'i - If thine eyes be turned towards mercy, forsake the things that profit thee and cleave unto that which will profit mankind. And if thine eyes be turned towards justice, choose thou for thy neighbor that which thou choosest for thyself.

I don't think that's originally a religious quote, but every religion has something similar. I found a very similar quote regarding Islam last night and know I have seen the same in Christianity as well. I guess I'd say all religions belong to that quote.

It's not christianity, because christianity tells you never to judge, always to forgive and let God do the judging. It's not buddhism, because buddhism would tell you to be nice to everybody all the time no matter what you want done to yourself. So I suppose it has to be islam.

Buddhism, Taoism and Greek Philosophy. These predated Christianity by centuries.

Hinduism, off of which Buddhism was based. Hinduism had too many rules for some people, so they created a rule-light religion, aka Buddhism.

Actually, you will find this in every major religion on the planet - not the exact wording, of course, but the intent.
