I am not certain that's true. Eve was certainly important. Miriam is called leader. Deborah is definitely important. So was Bathsheba....and Tamar....and Ruth....and Esther...and Mary...and Mary Magdelene (she carried the first message of the Risen Lord, doesn't get much more important than that)......and Junias was called "formost amoung the apostles".....and Pheobe...and Mary and Martha.

I do believe that part of these reason men appear to be so important is that in those societies men were given more public roles than women. And since that trend continued through centuries of interpretation, interpretation which was largerly done by men, the perception continues. When we go back, and read the text looking for women and what they did, the story changes a bit. Take the story of Hannah and Eli. Read from the point that men are the formost actors, it seems like a simple story of a barren woman getting a baby after the priest prays for her. But when we go back and read with the assumption that women are the formost actors we see a commentary on the dangers of polygamy. We also see that a woman's voice is often maligned when men don't understand. Then there is the message of religious hypocrisy and how religious leaders often don't understand their flocks. Ultimately, Hannah and women's issues are the point of the story and lead to the more important lessons. the same is true of the rape of Dinah even though little information is provided about Dinah herself.

Well, Virgin Mary was an important figure - and she was a female. Ruth was also an important figure, and she's female. Naomi is an important figure, and she's female. Although Men played an important part in society back then, Females were also portrayed as vital people in the Bible too; Jesus appeared to females first after he resurrected - this shows that God is not gender bias.

You are also forgetting that the Bible, although it is the word of God, it has been interpreted wrong by Humans. Did you know that many books of the Bible from the Library of Alexandria were destroyed by Barbarians - just goes to show how people will wreck anything, be't Holy or not Holy.

I hope that answered it.

Read the last proverb in the book of proverbs

The lives of Ruth and even that of Mary were really important

Only Esther could turn the events in the book Of "Esther"

Even Sarah who bore Issac after a 13 year long wait which tested their faith , Issac went on to be the founder of the nations

Even the charlot who gave shelter and help to the spies in
to get into Jericho I think(Not Sure)

Women have a part to play and according to the New Testament (1Cor)that Women were to be loved by man just As Jesus Loved the Church now! that's serious respect HUH!!...........

OK so EVE was Deceived and mucked up and in the olden days women submitted more to men than today and Yes they kept a sort of distance and hid their faces
Theses were all customs.........but that does not take away the importance of women from the Bible
I hope this helps

Until the last two or three generations , families were large . Women had many kids , so their time was taken up with pregnancy problems , child-birth , child care , and endless housework .
Just about everything done outside of the home was done by men . This put men ahead of women in all things except house-work . Since house-work doesn't make interesting reading , that leaves everything else up to the men , who get credit for it all .
That is rapidly changing as more and more women are educated and entering positions of leadership formerly occupied by men . The intelligent women are not having slews of kids to hold them back .
They have my best wishes . Any country that is contented using half of its brain power , deserves to remain back in the dust of progress .

My personal belief is that women were extrememly important in biblical times, for the most part they were held in higher regard than the men. It was later on when religion became more organized that anything suggesting women were equal or more important than men was erased forever.

People wrote the bible (or interpreted it, whatever you wish to believe), not God.

An atheist can say that the bible just wants to "put people in their place." It's obvious evidence of religion's use for the time, and how the use is no longer fitting to modern time, but that is shows how it was use by mortal man, no deity required.

A Christian can say that the bible is the word of God, imperfectly interpreted by man, or that it was interpreted properly and women are lower than men.

There are plenty of women of importance in the Bible. For the most part men are, as they are the head of a woman. But the head of a man is the Christ and the head of the Christ is God. Christ and God are always in the masculine, therefore male & called he many times. Women are not to be the head of the church. (God never changed that so they still are not to be the head of any church)

Sarah, Rebbecca, Rachel, Mary(5 of them), and others were of great importance. We can learn so much from them.

Because it was woman -Eve- who was beguiled by the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit, then gave it to Adam to eat. And because man was created first, then woman created from man. While it is true that most of the "important" people in the Bible were men, some were women.
