In Genesis 1:26, it says, "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." My question is who was God speaking to when He said "Let us"?

Did it exsist before he went out and spread the word? Did somebody tell him about Cristianity? Because if they did wouldn't they really be linked as the true saviour because they started the idea?

I would have used the word religion but then my question would have been an oxymoron.
Before you sling scorching verses at me, I am not an atheist, just a frequenter of Yahoo Answers and seems to me that the average demographic profile of R&S regulars is turning more and more atheist.
What do YOU think?

Is this the religion of peace?
Made possible by a war mongering peaceful prophet right?

Jesus Christ whom you reject, killed no one and was a true prophet.
Jesus Christ died for others. Muhammad massacred scores of people.
Jesus is the Son of God. God revealed in human flesh.

How many years separated the picking of the fruit from the tree and the cruxifixtion of jesus? Did every human go to hell between those time periods? I need a sample of that fruit and jesus's toenail for comparison. Anybody got a carbon dating kit?

Lucifer means light bearer...he's been called the morning star. Both these names have been attributed to jesus. Coincidence?

I tried to give my car away to a needy family a year ago, it still worked, but it was just old.

I talked to two ministers. One said he knew of someone, but my story sounded weird so I should try another church. The other said he didn't know anyone in his congregation who needed a car.

Is this common? Do ministers usually refuse donations for needy people in their congregations?

I ended up selling my car for $1000 to a sleazy used car dealer, because I couldn't find a minister who would help me be charitable.

why did he do the whole apple thing? Shouldn't he have known that we would pick the apple? And why apples? I hate apples. Should've been pears. Nothing better than a ripe pear. If pears are too ripe they get grainy, need to be right on time. A pear is basically scrumptious for only about half an hour out of it's whole life.

Lord knows I sure have, but only because I see how easy it is to do and how effective I could be at it if I wanted to. But even at my lowest, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm not at a point where I feel I'm beyond that sort of temptation, but one never really knows what tomorrow may bring into their soul.

Christians out there? I was wondering how I could learn to get all my confidence from God, and not wordly things.... I have a lot of hobbies and I find myself gaining a lot of my security and confidence from those things....

The things that your teachers taught you were absolutely wrong, distorted and full of lies. You can't bear to look back and tell yourself how proud you were to believe and uphold in those things being an attempt to 'brainwash' you at those times...

Best thing to do is to keep moving forward, but how to do use those things you've learned in school to carry on with your life today? Do you think that you could change them for the better? If so, how?

Some of you may know what I am talking about, some of you may not... but it would be great to hear from both sides of opinion...

How exactly do you KNOW god exists and not BELIEVE? You say "just look around you" and theres the proof but then I ask how do I know it was someone else other than god. Then you say read the bible but I realize its like wikipedia. anybody could alter it at any time and we cant find its credibility. and even if you saw something that could only be an act of god that doesnt mean the rest of us have. And we would have no reason to believe you. So unless youve seen or have actual proof that he exists can you say you BELIEVE and not KNOW?

What do you think of what he had to say in response to my question? I thought it was well thought out and I know it's all true.

"Yes, there are many misconceptions about Islam, especially those that concern women and male chauvinism. Men and women are equal in Islam. However, the media portrays otherwise, and causes many people to think the wrong way about Islam. Consequently, many have become ignorant and hateful toward Islam just because they have decided to trust the media and believe everything it says.

The Qu'ran does not order families to have their daughters killed because she is a "disgrace" to the family. This is a disgusting distortion of the truth. If someone did something so much as to "disgrace" a family, then he or she will deal this justic with Allah, NOT with human beings.

WASHINGTON - Around the world, a handful of scientists are trying to create life from scratch and they're getting closer

Experts expect an announcement within three to 10 years from someone in the now little-known field of "wet artificial life."

Bedau said there are legitimate worries about creating life that could "run amok," but there are ways of addressing it, and it will be a very long time before that is a problem.

"When these things are created, they're going to be so weak, it'll be a huge achievement if you can keep them alive for an hour in the lab," he said. "But them getting out and taking over, never in our imagination could this happen."

Hmm, somehow that last part about: "But them getting out and taking over, never in our imagination could this happen" is not very comforting. After all, didn't "they" say the Titanic was "unsinkable"?!

As a scientific theory is a "well substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that incorporates facts, laws, inferences and tested hypotheses" and no amount of validation can turn a theory into a law. The fact that it is described as a theory in no way refers to scientists reservations about evolution being a fact, just as they do not have any reservations that gravity is a fact, or that those who don't understand the theory of relativity, certainly are happy to accept that as a fact as they fly 30,000 feet above the ground during air travel.

So surely if you doubt the scientific facts of evolution you must equally doubt all scientific theories, like what goes up, must come down?

So question is do you doubt all scientific theories or just cherry pick?

Before I'm attacked for this, let me explain:

I am an Atheist, but I feel that the qualities that people define as "spiritual" are actually the most distinct expression of the personal. They are the expression of the core of our being, of our power, of our essence.

With this in mind, I respect the beliefs of others and see "spiritual" journeys in the light of personally expressed life affirmations. In this frame of mind, I think that everything may qualify as "spiritual" in nature.

The only things certain in this life are that we all are going to rejoin the whole from which our tenuous expression that we call life has sprung. Does this allow Atheism to claim a spiritual title as well?

I know how I feel about this, and am interested in other's answers.
