What do you think of what he had to say in response to my question? I thought it was well thought out and I know it's all true.

"Yes, there are many misconceptions about Islam, especially those that concern women and male chauvinism. Men and women are equal in Islam. However, the media portrays otherwise, and causes many people to think the wrong way about Islam. Consequently, many have become ignorant and hateful toward Islam just because they have decided to trust the media and believe everything it says.

The Qu'ran does not order families to have their daughters killed because she is a "disgrace" to the family. This is a disgusting distortion of the truth. If someone did something so much as to "disgrace" a family, then he or she will deal this justic with Allah, NOT with human beings.

Mistreating women is with no doubt a sin in Islam. Muslim men are not allowed to do whatever they please with their wives, as much of the west enjoys believing. There are strict guidelines of the male and female role in Islam, and since the media only depicts the male role, stretching it and making it look like the female role does not exist or is only for male satisfactory purposes, many people come to the conclusion that Muslim women are "oppressed". Over 70% of all converts to Islam, which is the fastest growing religion, are women..why would this be so high if Islam was so oppressive toward women? If Islam is such a male dominant, unequal religion, then how come the majority of converts are female?

Muslim wives, without question, have the right to divorce at any time, the right to own and operate a business, the right to own property, the right to inherit, gains the favor when it comes to child custody, must be treated with respect, care, and love by their husbands, and much more. She does not have to work. Men, on the other hand, are obliged to work and support for their families. Their wives do not have to make a single penny. If a wife so chooses to work, because it is not her duty to do so, she gets to keep every bit of money she makes. The husband, however, must still provide and care for the family.

Also, you are absolutely correct. NO WHERE in the Qu'ran does it say to committ suicide or kill innocent people (it actually specifically and clearly forbids these). These fake Muslims are using Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work. What a shame that they are so destructive to the truly peaceful image of Islam.

Furthermore, being "martyred" for the sake of "72 Virgins" in Paradise is NOT a worthy cause for dying; if lust influenced the desire to kill, then surely Allah will not reward those who fight for this reason.

I totally 100% agree with what he said. What an awesome, gifted kid. I couldn't have said that any better. How intelligent, well-written, determined, outspoken, and devoted of him to spread the truth to counter the ignorance and hatred that others have toward Islam. I wish I could be just like him!

:-)

djmantx:

Ummm..no, that is not correct. You are wrong. Where did you get distorted view from? I wonder..

The ONLY way any Muslim can be sure of his or her salvation is by believing in Allah (God). Because of this, we believe that people of the book, Christians and Jews, may also go to Heaven. Heaven will not only consist of Muslims. Allah leads those who choose to be leaded with open minds and hearts, and misleads those who have eternal darkness in their hearts with only malicious intent on their mind. That sounds fair to me. And if I am correct, it would be YOU who is misinterpreting "Allah's wishes." Allah does not wish for anyone to kill UNLESS an opposing party is threatening and actively attacking Islam, and that fighting would be the only option to preserve the religion. And that is fighting for Allah; fighting to preserve Islam. For example, if someone plans on killing all the Buddhists in China and destroying Buddhism there, but the Buddhists successfully fight back and preserve their religion, then they rightfully fought for the sake of their religion, did they not? Apparently, you think that just standing there and allowing it would do the trick, and in your eyes, that would save a religion from being violent. So being stupid and not fighting back is the way to go, allowing for the ultimate destruction of the religion in that area? Now how stupid does THAT sound...

Mr. X:

Those laws in Saudi Arabia have to do with the COUNTRY and NOT with Islam. They are influenced by MAN and not the Qu'ran. Please, you think that 1400 years ago, the Qu'ran said "women cannot drive cars"? Come on, use your brain now. Pleeease?

LOL Maximum Bob:

Yes she said herself it was a cut and paste. And I was the author of those words. Couldn't you tell from what I said at the beginning of this very answer? Or does the writing sound way too good for any fifteen year old to write? LMAO, you are so shocked in disbelief that you deny its very existence.. I will assure you, I wrote that, but you probably won't believe me. Whatever. If you want the link to the question she was referring to with my response, just ask.

Being a Muslim, you know then my Lord. The Qu'ran just as any religious texts has it good points and it's bad ones. I have read it, and like the Hebrew word find it "lacking" in the NATURE of the Father in heaven. Too much emphases is put by man upon words said to be from the holy mouth of the Lord when he can speak for himself. I also am well aware of traditions. One of those which degrades all these holy words IS how women's roles are portrayed IN them. The Father in heaven would NEVER look upon man or woman except as EQUALS "especially" in his kingdom and on earth. I am of the beginning and of the Lord when EVERYONE had respect for all life. None of us can ever show we are of the one Lord in heaven if we assume the position that any one of us "is" the only ones he cares about and that is what is wrong with the world and it's religions. Far too many delude themselves to believe the Lord segregates one peoples from another and it is a false belief. We all live on one planet and yet for thousands of years there has not been one generation amongst any of us that there has been PEACE. If the faithful can not get along on this planet how can any of "US" expect those who do not believe to join in changing the world for the better ? All of us need to "unite" and end all these squabbles that have no end in sight,

I thank you for posting that. He did make a very good point. I have learned a little more about Islam for it. I acknowledge that the media does concentrate on negative only, in many areas of life not just religion. We need more positive news outlets so that the good news can come to light.

Ask her why she can't celebrate your success with you? When she brings it up just agree with her that yes you made the mistake and have learned from it to put it behind you and no longer need to be reminded of it. Sounds like she is a bit jealous of your successes, or at least wants to be more successful then you. She wants to dominate the relationship in regards of achievements.
