Getting your confidence from hobbies? That would be the most heinous form of blasphemy! My confidence comes directly from knowing that I am a child of God the creator, God the almighty. Every day I walk in the light of God, and he keeps me on his righteous path to everlasting glory and salvation. If your confidence comes from a deep place within yourself, within God, you will triumph. Wait a second... I'm an atheist. Nevermind. I don't get any of my confidence from a supernatural being. Hobbies are great! You'll meet other people and form meaningfull relationships that will enhance your life for the best.

Start finding things to do that advance your relationship with God. Get involved with things at your church. Join Bible studies. Make these things part of your regular life.
You need to learn how others have trusted him in the past, and how it has paid off for them. These can be either stories from the Bible itself, or from other Christians you come in contact with.
And believe it or not, tithing will do more for you than you could possibly imagine in this department. I admit I feel nervous every time I drop a check in the plate, but God has managed to take care of me this far. I actually have found that I have fewer money problems when I do tithe, surprisingly enough.

Wow! You could get some long answers from this one question. But it comes down to setting aside time for God each day, time to study His word and pray. Take Christian classes through a local Bible teaching church. The more you learn about God and what His plans for us are - the more you will automatically find your strength (confidence) in Him.
That's the short answer.
Blessings to you!

Me too.
But we have to deny ourselves before God can use us. its hard to say no to our pleasures, were all in the same boat.
Jesus said "if you dont hate your own lives you cannot be my desciples" (luke 14:26)
in Romans 15:3 it says "For Christ did not please himself"
this is the main reason why today's church's are so shallow. No one is denying themselves, but pleasing themselves. God cannot use someone like that.
Luke 18:8 "nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
no, he will find a bunch of self indulgent "christians", who's god is there own appetite. sorry for the language but its necesary these days to get through.

Just remember, place your trust in the One who will last throughout eternity. Not the things that will perish. And repeat the first sentence that you wrote as a prayer. This will work.

God gave you the talent so without him you'd be nothing so attribute your greatness to him. "when pride comes, then comes dishonor," Proverbs 11: 2 and 16:18

Take a brick and smash your skull in. After you've lost the ability to use the majority of your brain, then and only then, will you be able to get more confidence in god.
