Yeah, I don't really get it. It's like punishing someone for their nature. It's like back in the day when left handed people were made to write with their right hand. It's silly. I usually peal pears to avoid that gross texture, but they are quite delicious.

I'm under the opinion that the best fruits start with "p." This would obviously include pears, which I am quite fond of as well. But also consider pomegranites, plums, peaches, pineapple. The sweetest, strangest, most vivid natural creations all begin with "p." Apples are lame. The juice from an apple running down your chin will never compare to that of a sticky, fleshy peach. I think I'm going to have a little chat with the man upstairs. He should represent original sin with something far more satisfying than an apple. You can't go wrong with "p."

The latin for apple is Abipble. Abi means fruit, and pble means pear-shaped.
Many religious authorities argue that pear-shaped refers to Eve's comely form, rather than to the actual fruit.

First, it "wasn't an apple thing". Only " the fruit" was set aside to provide an opportunity to prove loving obedience to their Maker.
Your assumption is incorrect: God is NEVER said to be all knowing-anywhere. He CAN, however, CHOOSE to know anything he pleases ( as, say, reading the heart condition of an individual.) At the same time, He can elect to withhold his knowledge, allowing for the stupendous gift of free will among his intelligent creation! This is what he invited the first couple to do. She was tricked, he, coerced, and both failed the simple test of faith in their Creator.

The story in Genesis, which is a revision of an older story from Mesopotamia, describes God as a ruler of the Garden, but definitely not an all knowing god before the fact, and also as being afraid of human competition, the eviction from the Garden is not described as punishment for eating the fruit of knowledge but as a prevention from eating the other fruit, the fruit of life, which would make humans equal to God and therefore able to compete with god. it is a jealous and uncertain God that rules the garden and evicts the humans. a God that is vindictive, cursing the humans and the snake.

I like to think it was a tree of many tempting fruits. Perhaps Eve chose the apple because that was her favorite out of all the fruits on the tree, had it been you, perhaps you might have chosen the pear.

The Bible doesn't say that it's an apple tree. It's not the type of fruit that matters, it's what surrounded the eating of the fruit that matters.

I believe its because of the free will notion. One cannot be free if there is no choice. So he gave them a test of will. The answer to the test was obvious, of course, but God gave them the choice anyway.
P.S. The bible did not say it was an apple.

Allah swt. is All-Knowing and at the same time All-Wise too,
As per Islam, it was wheat grain not an apple.
In holy Qura'n chapter Al-Baqara, Allah swt. before producing Adam through clay, said while addressing the angels, "He is going to appoint an assistant over the earth" ("inni jaa'elukum fil ardhi Khaleefa"),
It means it was a deliberate pre-programmed action of Allah swt.(due to the wisdom of Him), to shift Adam pbuh over the earth at last.
We cannot perceive what was the Wisdom of Allah swt., in blaming Adam pbuh, when Allah swt. already had decided to appoint an assistant over the earth, before producing Adam.

The tree of knowledge and eveil was not an apple tree but represents the law, God's righteousness. Also in the Garden was the tree of life which represents Gods mercy salvation through Jesus Christ. God did know man would eat of the tree of of knwoledge of good and evil. It was not God's plan to change amnthrough teh law bvut to chnge the heart of a man so the man is in agreement with God's righteousness.
God became a savior to his his people and atoned for sin by paying the penalty fo sin for us and fufilled the law and makes a man new bringing man to agreement with his righteouness.
