I have spoken to people from lots of different faiths, and asked them all the same question,
"How do you know your God is the right one, what do you think will become of you if one of the other major world religions were right all along"?

Surely only one of you can be right, I ask of Christians, what if you're wrong and it's Allah you're going to be facing, or the Jewish people were right and there was no Jesus? And for Muslims, what if the Christians are right, where does that leave you after a lifetime of following the wrong faith?

And the only answer I ever get is, "I know it's the right one because I do". And for me that's not good enough (I'm not religious obviously).

Some religions are exclusive too, and if you're not a member of their gang you're doomed. How can that be right when there are so many different faiths in the world?

Lets just hope it's the Buddhists who've got it right, because Siddhartha is so forgiving he'll let us have another crack at it ;o)

They're all living in Sin...... irrespective of whether there is a "gapore" on the end or not.

If it is a mortal sin, does one have to confess to a priest before receiving Holy Communion again? What are the serious reasons by which you can miss Sunday Mass so that it is not a mortal sin? If you died suddenly after neglecting Mass for a flimsy reason would you die in mortal sin and thus go to hell?

...when there are so many children that need to be adopted? I mean kids are starving out there, and dying because no one will adopt them. Yet I see a lot of people (especially the religious, that's why I'm asking on this forum) that want to have their own kids instead. There's the whole "passing on the bloodline" thing, and I don't get it. What's the difference with having your own kid?

Personally, I'm adopting. What do you guys think-- is it immoral to purposely get pregnant and have your own child when there are others already on this planet that need homes and love? I won't bash people that have their own kids already, but is there any real reasoning for it?

And please don't try to sell me that myth that you can't love an adopted kid as much because you didn't carry him or her 9 months-- fathers never carry the kid and they love their kid just as much. Similarly, I know that it can be expensive to adopt-- but shouldn't you already have that money if you're planning on a kid?

I went to a Catholic high school where I distinctly remember being taught that only humans have souls to the exclusion of all other animals. I have also seen this assertion repeated on yahoo answers several times (only humans can go to heaven, only humans can sin, etc, etc...).

Now, if you recognize and understand evolution, which many of you do of course, then do you believe that human ancestors did not have a soul? They were much simpler forms of life after all. Also, if you believe they didn't, at what point did humans begin having souls? How human did our ancestors have to get before their soul sprung into existence?

I guess what I'm asking is what criteria does an organism have to meet in order to have a soul? At what point do you think our soul came into existence? Is there an official answer to this from the Catholic church? If other great apes have been proven capable of reasoning does this mean they too can have a soul? I'm curious if the church has a stance.

If God plans and forms people before conception, then unwed mothers are just doing God's will. This seems true with Psalm 139:16, at least for Christians.

If Gods name isnt Jehovah, and JW's have never seen God in person? Why are they Jehovah Witnesses?

Shouldnt they be like "Creator Gods believers" or "higher power think tank" and so on and so forth.

BTW for all concerned, "Jehovah" is the german word for Yahweh. So unless YHWH was definately Gods spelled out name, and God is German, then Jehovah ISNT his name.

Are they really witnessing for him? Does one who denies the trinity and deity of Christ a good witness? Would they worship Jesus if he walked into the room as the apostles did? Or say "Hi prophet-only Jesus?"

If Im wrong on any of these, feel free to correct almighty God watchtower guards.

Friends why dont we stop believing in the constantly changing opinions and stop being let down by things you can't rely upon and believe the unchanging fact of creation through God and Jesus Christ. I am just showing what some fellow intellectuals have put out here, go take it up with them if you don't like it.

Personally, I say 'no', only the reaction *to* that emotion can be a choice, but I'm interested in other opinions.

This question was asked yesterday, and the first responder's sentiment isn't a unique one. I've seen comments like this before here.

Would someone please explain to me how -- or why -- an atheist would be jealous of a Christian?
