At the Tower of Babel, God seperated the people as they were worshipping a false God. He did this by making them speak in different languages. Due to this, the people separated around the world. The 'colour tag' comes from how much of the protein melanin, which gives skin colour, is produced. Melanin is more rapidly made by the influence of UV light, hence why white people 'tan' when they spend time in the sun. This is because melanin is being produced more rapidly, giving a darker skin colour. So when the people separated, and lets assume the skin colour was what we would call 'middle eastern' today, when people went their sepearate ways, either the melanin was induced more, giving a darker skin colour e.g. at the equator where there is more sunlight or if was produced less e.g. European. Over time adaptations would have taken place and would have beeen passed down the generations to the offspring. Genetically, we are are all 'racially similar'. It is only a protein that codes for how dark or light our skin is.
Hope this helps.

The tower of babel myth, was created to explain the many languages that were around at the time. But the moral was, not to put yourself above God or think you are as good as him. The explanation for colour was told in the myth about Noah's son, Ham. When Noah had been on the wine and was drunk, Ham saw him running around in the altogether, so Noah cursed Ham's son Canaan, to be a slave, Ham's family went south to Africa and created the African race. Don't know whether there was a moral involved there, just a very stupid story.

Pretty much is is assumed without going into all the genetic details that the decendants of Ham, Sham and Japath are your modern day African decendants, Middle Eastern and European...that means that as these clans of peoples migrated to specific points on the planet according to the very much authenticated Table of Nations...various physical addaptations occured from both environment and genetics..it is believed through study that origionally most people began with taller stature, darkish skin, big eyes, larger noses and black strait hair...what might be pictured as the average understanding of what the native american indian tribes looked like or people of eastern indian. It worked out pretty good because you wouldn't want to try to live as a tall, thin, nordic, red head with blue eyes in sub saharan Africa or likewise be an Athabaskan Indian living in Cuba. There is no "color"...just variations on a theme. Race was never discussed in the Bible...only people of various regions and various names. ~J~

We are all part of the human race. As far as the tag, as people migrated, then dominant genes would have surfaced. It could have been as east to group people by hair color, which some do as in blond jokes.

The religious people amongst us will start blathering on about "the mark of Cain" or some such nonsense. We didn't get tagged, it's just different varieties in the same way other animals have different varieties. (That's why an labrador doesn't look like a collie etc.)

it was only different languages that was created at the tower of bable! We are different colours to cope with the differnt envirements that our ansestors survived in. Black people come from Africa, where it is hot all the time, and black skin doesn't burn nearly as much as white.
