This question was asked yesterday, and the first responder's sentiment isn't a unique one. I've seen comments like this before here.

Would someone please explain to me how -- or why -- an atheist would be jealous of a Christian?

The only way that I think an atheist could ever be jealous of us is like this:

The atheist learns the truth about what we know and how God has blessed us tremendously by saving us from eternal separation from Him.

And then says to themselves, "Wow.....look what I've been missing. I want that too."

There are 2 ways.

They could be jealous because the Christian feels eternally secure and confident of their afterlife. The atheist has no such gurantee whatsoever and in fact quite the opposite. Although they dont believe in God or the afterlife with their mind, there is a piece of their soul telling them otherwise and it troubles them to a degree.

Also there are certainly some that feel frustrated over having tried to believe and even gone to church just to fail and fall back into atheism. So they have failed where believers have succeeded. Ive heard MANY Q's on here to that effect.

Well if it makes you feel any better, there are people in the church that long for what the world has, indulgence in the sinful nature and the occupation of the self-interest.

The only explanationis that the Atheist has no faith and has nothing to believe so he becomes jealous of the christian for having something to believe in if you have no faith then you have nothing to look forward to when you die just death then if you think like that you will get depressed I have an atheist friend he is always depressed and he asked me why I am always so happy and I told him because I know that god answered my prayers when you are an atheist you are all alone in this world by yourself so I see why they would get jealous

Deke, you know you're jealous of me. No, actually you're jealous of my boyfriend. But he's an atheist too so I guess I don't have a point...

As a serious answer, I don't get it either. If the general atheist consensus is that Christians are deluded and brainwashed, or at the very best just extremely stubborn and blind to the truth, then why on earth would they be jealous?

possibly it somewhat is like Santa, my mum suggested it became into somewhat one in each of Santa's helpers, no longer the real one, with the aid of fact he became into busy in the workshop making waiting for Christmas. So possibly you will purely finally end up chatting with one in each of God's helpers somewhat. Did you ever see Beetlejuice? that concept of heaven as a waiting room, taking a style and arranged whilst some poor overtaxed woman is sitting at a table attempting to technique all the recent applicants!

I'm not sure that "jealous" is the word I would have used there. I think it's more accurate to state Christians are viewed as being sanctimonious, because we have the audacity to criticize others for actions the Bible deems to be "sinful." Atheists reject the concept of "sin." So I do not see jealousy playing a role.

From our point of view, the Bible states that unbelievers enjoy their sins and do not wish to come into the light of God, since that involves giving up their behavior. (John 3:18-21)

Simple! just one word - Reality
Christian touch Reality when they touches God. It's an experience that Atheists know nothing of despite of all their verbosity and so-called intellectual prowess-they just come up empty of Reality.

I don't think jealous is the word but sometimes I think maybe 'begrudge' might fit SOME atheists just as 'haughty' probably suits SOME baby Christians.
It's like some resent that we believe we are going to a wonderful place and while they don't want to it just bothers them (that maybe we are right?). Peace.

Atheists don't seem to be able to ignore Christians or Christianity and get on with their decision. Perhaps the world is not as finite for them as they believe. Is physical death the end? Christianity reveals that it is not. Heaven is appealing to us all. No one wants to be left out. Is it a cause for jealousy, perhaps. If not, its every soul for itself. God bless.

Most Christians trust God and rely on His strength to get us through. We draw on His strength when we can't rely on our own. He is our strong tower, our fortress and our shield. Through Christ we have the promise of eternal life, a comforter, a future and a hope. We have reason to rejoice.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. Plans to prosper, plans for good, to bring you a future and a hope.

When Atheists have no one to turn to and their own strength fails them, who do they have to lean on? When your family and friends fail you, where do you go for comfort?

If this world was all there is I know I'd be totally depressed and highly dissappointed. In fact I'd be mad as H.E. double hookey sticks.

I'd rather believe in Christ, live a seemingly happier life, die and not need Him than to not believe and then die and find out I was wrong.

In the same way a poor person might be "jealous" of a rich person.
