May I give you an Illustration?

Put a glass on the table - fill it with water to the rim.
Take another and fill it to the rim with water from a muddy rain puddle.

Hit the table. What comes out of each glass?

Continually pour clean water in the muddy glass... what eventually happens? The glass ends up clean.

Our lives pour out with whatever we put in it when we are under stress.

Pouring the word to our lives daily helps us to be clean and to resist the stress of temptation.

Peace.

Well - I can tell you how it worked for me. The Bible is full of truth. When I have a sin that I can't overcome, I read a lot in Romans 6-8. Especially 7, It talks about how sometimes we do what we don't want to do, how we know what is right, but sometimes we find ourselves doing the opposite, sin is at work in our bodies. "Who can set me free from this body of destruction? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

That tells me the answer right there. I cannot break the sin cycle, only Jesus can do it. I was stuck in homosexuality for 8 years. After 6 I found that Jesus needed to be my focus, not stopping my sin. It was a gradual process, but over those last 2 years, I changed my focus to Jesus, just listening and following His voice, and I saw the sin just slip away, and now I'm free!! Thanks be to Jesus!

If we do not eat physically and nourish our bodies we will easily succumb to the smallest virus. In like manner we have the word as the " food" and " drink" to supply and build us up spiritually. the Word of God is crucial to our ability to overcome sin and satan. If our spirits are nourished and strenghtened with the Words of Life then the Lord is able to deal with all the matters of sin in us. If we have nothing of the word in us we have nothing to draw upon when we are faced with sin.
Sin will face us EVERYDAY.. either from the flesh.. the world....and satan...The word is our inoculation, our sword, our foundation, our light in the darkness, its our rich supply.
Each day the Lord presents Himself to us as Manna to strenghten us in our spirits so we are supplied inwardly to face the wilderness ahead. May we raise up to " gather" the manna by coming to His presence.
Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. The Lord teaches us that by the Word we are able to resist temptations. Satan tempted our Lord and the WOrd spoken back to the enemy defeated and shut him up.
May the word that we put in daily be a helmet guarding our hearts and thoughts. May the Word strenghten our spirits and SUBDUE the flesh with its tendency to sin.

Lord cover all the brothers and sisters this day.

Read Romans chapter 7.....

We may never fully overcome it........because we are still in the flesh.
But God will show us a way around it instead

It doesn't, really. It just gives people the comforting illusion that they are not really responsible for their actions.
