I posted this in religion because this appears to be where most of the atheists post.

Theres only one race: The Human Race

2007-08-09 01:48:37 · answer #1 · answered by ReliableLogic 5 · 6 1

Different races exist because through evolution they were enabled to adapt to where they originate so they wouldn't die out. Africans are dark-skinned for a better tolerance to the sun, and Europeans are pale because it is a different climate there. If you look at different races, they're all suited to the country of their origin becasue they adapted to that area through evolution. It's the same reason that certain monkeys evolved to men and others did not-- all in the name of adaptation.

Have you ever noticed the difference between animals in areas? Some are well adapted to deserts, and others to snowy areas or jungle climates.

If you are trying to prove evolution as false, you're definately using the wrong arguement to do so. At least use an arguement that doesn't have such a simple, well-known answer. And they're right-- it's not just Atheists that believe in evolution. Many Christians do.

Can I inquire about your age?

I am a Christian and do not believe in Darwinian Evolution (molecules-to-man) HOWEVER, this is a case of evolution within a kind which does not go against creation.
The features of races are caused by selection of existing genetic information based on natural selection.
Yes, natural selection is accepted by creationists - it's what gives variety to the 'kinds' but can only select from existing information - no new genetic information has ever been observed to evolve.

A combination of natural selection, sexual selection and genetic drift changed the frequency of alleles within genetically isolated populations of humans. People with certain physical features are colloquially grouped into "races", but studies show that the differences are more qualitative than quantitative.

If you were going for proving the atheists wrong, I think you're doing the opposite. It's very simple to explain them as far as from an evolutionary standpoint. People live in different regions and therefore have to cope with different conditions. For example, Africans are dark because of the sun that bears down on them all day. Over time, people moved from one centralized area to places all over the world. As they moved, the regions changed and separated them until, after a while, so many generations had passed that they no longer remembered each other. They made their own religions and adapted to their own conditions. Just because you believe in evolution doesn't mean that you are not a Christian. I am. Does it not stand to reason that after God created Adam and Eve, subsequent generations had to disperse across the world in order for us to have the many races and languages we do today? As they did, they adapted.

Biologically speaking, there is no such thing as race. And since evolution deals with sciences like biology evolution says there is no races. There is no single genetic trait that accurately divides people into groups that represent their ancestry.

evolution doesn't have a problem explain the races. the fundies on the other hand have a issue trying to explain how the earth was repopulated with all the different races in less than 4000 years...

Well after humans migrated out of Africa they were in different environments and they evolved in slightly different directions based on the the conditions where they lived.

Not much really separates them. We are more diverse among individuals than the average of the races when you look at DNA. Most of it is pretty superficial.

The world was one huge land mass many thousands of years ago,it was called Gondwanaland, then earth quakes
eruptions from volcano's and other volatile explosions started
to divide the once pristine land mass into smaller ones, and the peoples who were on them kept their traditions and their
languages, hence the reason we have Japanese,American
Australian,Italian,Dutch,English,Danish,Inuit,Russian,German,Irish,Scottish,Welsh,Iranian,Iraqi,Hawian,French,Greek&Jewish.Other than whats written i don't know a great deal or why it came about,at a guess i'd say that you were seaching for answers so you'd know what the hell you are talking about,am i on the right trail.

The way your question is worded indicates that you are totally clueless about anyone outside your own little world of beliefs. A basic priciiple of evolution is the diversity of species, so of course you're going to have different races. That is expected. Second, it is highly insulting for you to assume that all those who believe in evolution are atheists. This make as much sense as me assuming that all evangelical ministers are pedophiles. Wake up. Smell Coffee.
