Personally, I think that calling evolution a religion is an asinine attempt to try lower science to the level of fairy tales. I hear the term "evolutionist" thrown around a lot and it makes me want to punch someone as THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "EVOLUTIONIST"! That's the kind of nonsense people spew when the only education they've had over evolution has come from an old guy with a Bible who refers to it as "evilution" half of the time and "devilution" the other half of the time.

Your thoughts?

Please, support your claim in some way.

No rambling about how I'm an evil atheist, I will surely ignore you.

This question is out of season. Anyway, this is my concern. Because Christmas originated from paganism. and there are no Biblical precept on the celebration of Christmas. and early Christians never celebrated Christmas at all.

Atheists, don't bother to answer - I know you're all smart enough to sweep certain things under the rug. SOOOO, Christians, is it just that you feel sorry for Muslims 'cause they're goin' to hell? Or do you hate their ideology and think they deserve hell? I'm really interested to see your opinions. Thanks!

Ok so I have this dinner invitation and it is at a gentleman's club where in my youth, I have blurry images of wine consumption, men sitting around telling lies to each other, and naked squirming flesh on gravy stained table tops now devoid of cutlery but not wine.

Same thing this time, only this time I am married with three and I just know that the young vile temptress is going to want to sit on my lap.. naked ladies always seem to do that to me.

I that cheating and how do I politely refuse the unwarranted attention without hurting her feelings? :)

I just want to know someone elses opinion on whether or not Cain married his sister/neice/ cousin or did God create other people. My question revolves around the scripture Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image of God created he him; male and female created he them. KJV. Later it tells in Gen 2:7 that he created Adam . Does anyone believe that this meant God had created other people besides Adam and Eve? I have always belived Cain married a relative but I would like to hear other peoples opinion.

(This is long but it’s not THAT long so please be patient and see if you can help me understand this.)

By and large on this forum and others I have seen that Jesus purportedly said: (paraphrasing)

"No one gets to the Kingdom of Heaven except through me."

which is interpreted as:

"No one gets to the Kingdom of Heaven except by believing that I am the Son of God and adopting this as their primary guiding principle."

On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson whom I consider to be an intelligent and learned man once said that the teaching of Jesus were “the most sublime and benevolent code of morals which has ever been offered to man.” – a powerful statement.

So I guess my question is this. Is it possible that my paraphrase above does not imply the interpretation that immediately follows but instead means:

“No one gets to the Kingdom of Heaven except by exemplifying the morals I have put forth in my teachings.”

In other words, it is not that we have to accept Jesus as our

He used to require animal sacrifice and complete submission. He drowned everyone except one family in a flood. He sent plagues. Then all at once he decided he loved the world and sent his own son to be a human sacrifice.

I have my own beliefs and I keep them to myself. However, I often wonder WHY so many folks feel the need to go to such extremes one way or the other.

Examples:

1. You are uber-religious and you believe strongly in something - WHY do you feel the need to go with gusto and attempt to force others to conform to your beliefs? If you're Christian and you think that ____ is a sin. Won't God judge that sinner in the end? Who are you to judge them in this life and why/how do you feel yourself qualified to deliver judgment?

2. If you are an Atheist - WHY do you feel it necessary to belittle the belief of others? You have your beliefs. You are secure in them. Why antagonize?

Say you were anti-traditional marriage, and you spent considerable effort trying to educate people on the evils and pointlessness of monogamy, how it only restricts and removes any sort of sexual freedom. Then you meet a happily married couple of 20 years, who seem so in love and at peace with each other and the world that your only option, based on the foundation you've already laid, is to mock them and try your best to break up their relationship to save face. But instead of them returning the insults or questioning their own relationship, they show you many more couples just like themselves, almost like a world unknown and unimagined by you until that time.

For many Christians, their relationship with Jesus is the same, consisting of such love and peace that life without Him is incomprehensible. I know Christians can be annoying, like a happy couple, but why try to break down love when it is such an incredible thing to so many?
