Since "Scientific" Creationism has no evidence, it can only act by attacking evolution. Since evolution is sound science, rational attacks are impossible. At the least deceptive level, the practitioners turn to rhetoric. They adopt the name Science without using the scientific method, while calling scientists "evolutionists". The key practice of calling evolution a religion is purely political. They want to try to create a justification for attacking science education.

No, of course not. This is the Creationists' and IDers' (same diff) way of trying to degrade science.
Notice how when they call evolution a religion it's meant in a highly derogatory way. However, all their arguments against evolution are based on religion. It's pretty ironic.
Not to mention that the theory of evolution is supported by more evidence than any other scientific theory. Hell, the theory of gravity and quantum theory don't have nearly as much evidence as the theory of evolution does.
Another way the IDers and Creationists try to degrate the theory of evolution is by calling it "simply a theory" when they have absolutely no idea that a scientific theory is *not* the same as the day-to-day colloquial use of "theory". In science, a theory is the highest form of scientific explanation that incorporates many, many observed facts.
When you hear these characters calling evolution a "religion" or "just a theory", know that they are getting all their crap from Creationist literature and websites.
Furthermore, these nutjobs think that by attacking evolution they are furthering their "Creation science". However, science doesn't work that way. Like all scientific theories, the theory of evolution is falsifiable. So, if tomorrow a scientist were to find a homo sapiens bone alongside dinosaur bones the theory of evolution would be falsified. *BUT* and here's a bit but, neither Intelligent Design nor Creationism would still be valid scientific theories by default. They would still have to show evidence for their hypotheses and test it, make predictions, and make their theory falsifiable.
Trust me, these cats can't. They wouldn't know good science if it bit them in the a$$

No, evolution is not a religion. Evolutionist are people who believe that people and other beings have been changed over the last billions of years. Whereas, Creationist believe that God made the earth as is.
Its just a name to identify who supports what theory.

I agree that it can be annoying to hear the term "evolutionist" or hear atheism referred to as a faith. However, if we get all worked up over such comments, we are only encouraging their behavior. It's best to just ignore it so we don't reward them with negative attention. For many people, negative attention is more rewarding than no attention.

I am sorry you are so convinced of your evil. We realize that atheists are unable to fathom the concept of religion and cannot spell... Your lower science of evolution has nothing to do with religion, and I am sorry that you feel the need to spew nonsense about religion that you do not understand.
You can stop with your "fairy tale" analogies, since that is about as poor as your attempt to raise evolution theories to the same level as religions.
Get over yourself, find a job and stop rambling about things you obviously are unwilling to consider.
However, I can understand why people question whether evolution is a Religion, since atheists see the need to post evolution questions in Religion rather than Science.

based on your question, i know you won't like my answer. so, since you posted your view, don't get mad when i post mine.
evolution is seen as a religion because it takes faith. faith is believing without seeing which is what evolutionists(i really don't care if you despise that term. its a word that describes someone who believes/supports evolution) do. Every religion requires faith. Creation has scientific evidence that supports it as does the THEORY(not fact, its not a law, quit trying to say it is in hopes that it might become one) of evolution. but, were you there to see the change of one species to the next? no. did you witness the big bang? no. in truth, you don't know if it really happened. so, you take it on faith.
for clarification, "faith" in this paragraph will be defined as, "believing without seeing, it is still supported by evidence"

Evolution theory is a religious belief that fundamentally requires adherence to the religion of atheism and/or the religion of pantheism. “Evolution” is a hypothetical, unobserved process (without any known scientific mechanism) by which all things in the universe are said to have created themselves from nothing without needing the existence of a Creator. Evolution is a hypothetical process of onwards-and-upwards self-improvement where all things somehow create themselves and somehow increase their complexity of their own accord.

... evolution is a rational explanation of how the current species came to be. It's definitely not a religion.

People who call evolution a religion are trying reduce it to the level of their own religious beliefs. The fact that they feel the need to lower the 'prestige' of evolution, in order to feel better about a faith based belief, shows weakness in that belief.

I don't understand how science can be a religion but I believe that through science and knowledge (and evolution) that we will survive the current adolesence that we are in.
