We do good deeds because of what Christ did for us. We don't do good deeds to get into heaven, we do good deeds because we're happy and we want to share what makes us happy with the world.

"Should" might not be the best word.
How about "If we're really following Jesus's example, we will be doing good deeds."
I don't think good deeds will necessarily get you closer to God. Prayer and devotion will. And I think the closer we get to God in our hearts, the more good deeds will just come natural to us.

A life well lived will draw more people to Christ than all the sermons in the world. It's so much fun to do nice things for people. It's even better if they don't know who did it because you're not to do it for the praise but because you love the Lord.

Yes, we really should. We do not get saved by them, but we indeed should do good. When we let Jesus work through us, miracles are possible. : )
I believe we are here to learn to love one another and help each other out when we can. : )
