My answer would be to tell them to study science. But, this reminds me of a guy I know from work. He said he took only one science course in high school, geology, and he said he didn't believe any of it. He believes that the earth is around 6500 years old and the bible is literally true. He is a Lutheran. He is in his 40s and will not change. There are many like him.

I feel no need to explain. I believe what I believe and vice versa I'm not going to try and change their opinion because thats something they should do or not do on their own.
