The basic idea of an Athiest is to rid of God and religion so they don't have to take responsibility for their actions. "If there is no God, who can judge me?" But with the blatant evidence that God does exists puts them on an already sinking boat. And really, this country's religion is "Christianity" whether people want to face the music or not. It was founded on religion due to George Washington being the first man to run the country. And guess what book he used to run it? Of course a Deist will tell you different. But their "piece of paper" was signed AFTER Washington was doing his business WITH the Bible. (Check it out yourself!)

Probably because they get juvenile, intolerant and very unloving remarks from people who are supposed to be Christian, people who are supposed to be following Jesus's command to love everybody.
You might just as well ask why Christians always target atheists too. It looks to me like it's pretty 50/50 here on R&S between the catty atheists and closed-minded fundamentalists.
I know it wouldn't be as much fun to some very immature people (both atheists and believers), but how much more fruitful our dialogs could be if we got rid of the "nyah nyah nyah! MY side is better than YOUR side" attitude.
THAT'S what's immature.
PS. Yes, I am a Christian.

Christians are the most vocal and visible group who believe differently than Atheists.. Which makes them the logical and overwhelmingly most viable target..
It's simple logistics groups that fly under the radar are rarely targets...

why do Christians target atheists? too many people are so busy trying to get others to think, believe, feel, behave, etc etc the way they do as if they are only ones doing things the right way. Its a human condition and has been ongoing for ages.
If you don't like the behavior of others don't copy them.

Your generalizing I don't target christians. I don't make fun of religion I only express my beliefs just as you do. We don't agree but I respect your beliefs and I don't try to change them. By making your statement you are proving that it works both ways.

because the Christ is the only person who have ever claimed to be God and have so much following, for so long a time, & in every culture.
but wait, one cannot go to a predominantly islamic country & say bad things regarding anything about islam & keep on living.
& lastly only Christianity among the major faith systems believe in exclusivity meaning they are the only Way. all the rest have the so-called "in the end we will all reach heaven" teaching. so that in itself is a good reason, the if you are not for Christ, then you are against Christ thing.
take your pick.

All people sans Jesus of Nazareth are born dead to God. This means all people left on their own are doomed to Hell. All people, especially false religious people.
A dead person can no more speak, breathe, eat, or act, than an atheist can respond to God on their own volition.
When you bring them the light of the Gospel it is the same effect as waking someone up at 2 a.m. in complete darkness and shining a light in their eyes. What's your natural reaction? To break the light and eliminate the irritant.
To those bound for destruction (bound as in chains, and bound as in traveling towards), the gospel is the stench of death. But to those who are called out of death, it is the aroma of salvation.
As all sinners (past but saved now, and the unrepentant) are bound up in the nature of sin, their father is the devil. People act as they are raised by their fathers. They carry the genetics of their parents. If their father is the devil, so their spiritual genetics are evil, they can not help themselves.
That is why they are anti-Christ.

Well, to be fair, we can be held accountable for doing the exact same thing.
Athiest want to know why you believe in a God who, to them, doesn't exist - while Christians want to know why they've crossed out the possibility of a God.

I target all religions. However, since America, where i live, is full of all flavors of Christians, many of them trying to control everything we experience and think... well... that just makes them targets in my book... and easy ones too.

For the most part if you list times you think christians were made fun of 75% of the time it was just pointing out how worng christianity is. There are a few that make fun of it but christians give them alot of fodder.
