Christians unanimously responded to my previous question that God does have a reason for not intervening to save a burning child, but we are not capable of understanding or knowing his reason. Reason tells me that if any mortal has had an opportunity to save my child from burning, but did not at least attempt to do so, I am entitled to an explanation or an apology, or I can conclude that the person is bad. Why does this logic, the same logic that God tells me to use in all other aspects of life, not apply to our thinking about God? We do not get an explanation and we do not get an apology, yet we are still required to consider him great. God can do or not do whatever he wants and we have to accept it as good. We have to look back to primitive civilizations ruled by Kings and Queens to see this type of unquestioning acceptance by massive groups of people. I think it is no coincidence that the text which you base your beliefs on was written by men who lived in such a civilization.

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor EFFEMINATE, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,"

-Notice the King James version states specifically that the effeminate will not inherit the kingdom of God. ...this is separated from "abusers of themselves with mankind" which implies homosexuals.

-so why are there so many girly men that go to church? Have you seen the choir directors, the men in the orchestra, and many of the pastors...these guys are not real butch.

-I bet most men at most of the churches couldn't even change the oil in their car.

So, my point is this....I may be gay, but can run a marathon, I play baseball and rugby, and I can change my oil....so, definitely not effeminate.

Why aren't you fundies railing against the girly men? Obviously, it was important enough to spell it out in this passage.

How can you know for sure if you are saved? Consider 1 John 5:11-13 (NLT): "And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life." Who is it that has the Son? Those who have believed in Him and accepted Him (John 1:12). If you have Jesus, you have life. Eternal life. Not temporary, but eternal. All you have to do is accept Jesus in your life and you will be saved. You will be in his presence for all eternity! What a GLORIOUS prospect!

A highly contagious fish disease once limited in North America to the Great Lakes has now jumped to several inland lakes. It is killing thousands of fish from an increasing number of species.

Known as viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS), the gruesome disease can cause internal bleeding and haemorrhaging from open sores.

VHS first appeared in the Great Lakes in 2003, most likely as a stowaway in the ballast water of ocean-going ships. The particular strain of virus found in the Great Lakes is believed to be a mutation of a strain found in the Atlantic Ocean.

i am not christian so apologize in advance, but my question is about Adam and Eve. People say that they committed a crime by eating that apple, i.e had sex or something. If god didnt plan then, how was he planing for us to come on earth? did he only want Adam and Eve on earth and we are all mistakes???

It's just not natural. We all know that opposite parts don't go together, it's strictly forbidden. The only thing that's allowed is sword fighting (2 men) and scissoring (2 women). I don't care what they do in thier bedroom, but must they always flaunt their lifestyle in public. I can't even walk down the street without them parading and shoving their unnatural acts down my throat. And how they produce kids is all wrong. We all know it's the job of the magical stork bird to bring a couple a baby. Thier ruining our family values. They need to repent and ask The Wiz for forgivness or else suffer eternal punishment. Do they not realize this?

i have been confused for many years about my own sense of faith.... i guess i would be called an agnostic? i don't know what i believe, but have often felt that perhaps the pagans know what they are about. rather than hating on everyone else for being this kind of christian of that kind of christian, perhaps it is better to focus that energy on the beautiful planet on which we live. thoughts?

I am so tired of public school kids told the opposite of what is true, the government's new religion of humanism. Examples: evolution is not a fact, it is a theory which many secular scientists don't subscribe to, the Mayflower Compact states that they were coming to spread Christianity, this was left out of school books, families have always had one mommy and one daddy for a reason, it is called survival of the species and no it is not ok to have sex with whoever you want, what is going on? What do you think, and I know all you Christian teachers think that the school system is fine, that is because like a fish doesn't know it is wet, you don't know how anti-Christ the system is. And as to the other popular objection, Christian kids aren't mature enough to evangelize other kids, most Christian kids loose their faith by graduation because of all the lies and darkness. Maybe it is just parents being too selfish to pay for Christian schools or homeschooling? What's your take?

I've been considering posting a link to my "real" blog on my 360 page. So far, I haven't done it because I have personal information on my real blog (like where I work), but I've never stated my name or posted my picture on either blog.

A couple of my friends that I grew up with are Jesus freaks. It really irritates me because I am atheist. My parents were atheists and I was raised to be one. Now, my friends and I are 32. They are always saying " Thank You Jesus" " Isn't god great"? They always tell me they hope and pray I can find god and open my heart up. I don't say anything because I don'
t want to be rude. They have invited me and invited me to church, and I say no thanks. How can I tell them to stop and to respect my lack of belief?

Especially when they don’t really ANSWER THE QUESTION ASKED, but just respond with glib one-liners that repeat what the other half dozen atheists who responded before them already said.

For example, I asked a question last week addressed to people of certain four religious groups asking how they reconciled their belief in God with the obvious reality of pain & death.

Several atheists chimed in just to say, in effect, we don’t have these philosophical problems because we don’t believe in God.

Well, DUH. I wasn’t asking you.

And the first guy who responded already said it anyway. You weren’t adding anything to the discussion.

This happens most of the time.

Someone just asked christians if they would get angry if the pledge said "one nation under Allah", and they defended their double standard (as in they would be allowed to be upset in that situation but atheists aren't allowed to be upset that the pledge says under God), by saying this is a christian nation, it was founded on christianity, ect.

So my question is: Is the U.S. a christian nation?

Does anyone know of a good forum for having spiritual discussions, where it is not so hateful as in Yahoo Answers? I skim through a ton of questions, and it seems if a questions is about being Atheist, or about being Christian - there are at least 8 immature, hateful answers... I'm not pointing any fingers at a particular group or faith - everyone seems to be stupid...

Im just an open person, taking my own little faith journey, and I would love to find an open forum where people can talk and share ideas with feeling the need to shoot each other down and always "win"

Any ideas, or is this a silly thing to hope for...?
