Run James Run, I think this is actually a commentary on religious belief in general, though it has obvious references to the war we're fighting now. His song "Waiting On The World To Change" is more of a war protest song than "Belief". I LOVE John Mayer's music, by the way. Seen him in concert 3 times. :-)
