The Roman Catholic ArchDiocese of L.A. has announced they are paying out 600 million dollars to settle 500 sex abuse cases. 500 in L.A. alone. They payed out over 2 billion dollars in sex abuse cases since 1950. It's not as rare as we were led to believe. It's not only one rogue priest porking an altar boy in the *** here and there; it's way more widespread. They ask for donations from parishioners like mobsters to help pay for this. The church has a **** load of money. Some of the money is paid for by insurance policies. For what; in case a sex abuse case 'accidentally' happens? They are ready in case people come forward ready to sue.

You got some dirty old men as priests. i bet this comes from the fact they don't allow marriage. This shows the prime example of the Roman Catholic Church as a religion in action.

If this guy does not WANT to believe in hell anymore, so what? The problem, and no one seems to be seeing this point, is that he continues to call himself CHRISTIAN!It is proper for any group to remove a member who no longer holds the tennets of that group. The landscape of recent history is full of those who once claimed to hold the Biblical faith and then rejected it, in one form or another. Jim JonesDavid KoreshKenneth HaginEtc...That is why the Bible, itself, teaches us to pay attention to doctrine, "because many wolves have crept in unaware"The Bible also has this to say about those who choose to change what is preached, "even if an ANGEL from heaven preaches a DIFFERENT gospel, than what you were given, let him be ANATHEMA (damned"This is just one more example of how easy it is to lead those astry who are lazy and purposely ignorant of what the CLAIM to believe. People who come to 'church' for show or for the feeling they get and who follow the messenger, rather than the messege.

I have many friends of various religions, but the Christians and Muslims appear to look down on me and all my other friends. Is it a pre-requisite of the newer Abrahamic religions to look down on all others, including Judaism which gave birth to both? This is not all inclusive, but I've found the vast majority of Christians to have this "holier than thou" attitude, and a good portion of the muslims do as well. I have yet to meet an atheist, Wiccan, Hindu, Selist, or Lecumi who act this way.

temptation? To pull humans away from Gods Grace? And to bring people into hell for all eternity? In other words, Brainwash humans to think Evil is good. And Good as Evil?

19 But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,[c] and for all the evils which Herod had done,

20 also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison.

21 When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized;

Did they have a jailbreak or something?

Heads up, by the way - Luke claimed that his account was orderly (Luke 1:3,) so John's imprisonment (and he died there) preceded Jesus' baptism, according to Luke (Ghost-writing for God/Jesus.)

Let me introduce myself. First, I'm an atheist, mostly because I was raised in an atheist family and culture. I moved to America 7 years ago and got tremendously interested in Christianity.

So I have decided to read the Bible to get a taste of its beauty. Also, considering the scripture is like the foundation of the western hemisphere, reading the Bible will surely help myself get melted into the American culture.

However, no offense to the Christians out there, the Bible is a pretty boring book. And it's long. I started with Page 1 the Genesis, which is interesting, but from there it gets duller and duller.

I know the Bible shouldn't be like this. Maybe I'm reading it without the guidance from a minister? What's the deal? Can you help me?

Why don't followers of the Bible question why so many books are hidden?
Isn't every book important? Why should some be kept out? They say these stories are said to be "false writings", but how can anyone prove that? This has been on my mind since I woke up; so if anyone has some insight for me, share.

Believers in (a) God and (b) spirits that survive death, have a hard explaining such ideas to sceptics like me. But what about the reverse position?

Believers are entitled to ask how something that is only physical can have experiences. A lump of strictly physical rock cant, so why can strictly physical flesh?

What about....this Scripture: " If a man says he has no sin, he deceives himself and the truth is not in him"...?

Okay now I do not want any answers like ghosts are not real they are demons sent from hell in disguise to decieve us. I know that theory already.

I ask because I am a Ghost Hunter/Paranormal Investigator and I see many people who join in the search for Ghosts. Some who I know personally do this secretly due to their church doctrine.

Every single church I ever attended said they do not exist.

If you are a Christian an do belive that sometimes people stick around as a ghost, please state your church prefrence like Baptist etc.

Also tell me if your church would approve or disprove. Please if you don't mind.

I know many will go ahead and tell me they are demons, but that is not my question. I want to hear from Christians who believe ghosts are real and not a threat to us.

If they were the first humans and they sinned, it means humans were DESIGNED sinful. If they weren't designed sinful they wouldn't have sinned-by definition. If you're given free will and you sin-you are sinful-no two ways about it. God forgives all anyway so there is no reason for these two to affect mankind? What kind of god would generalise two people's actions and then make us all worship him even though Jesus died for our sins anyway!! If he was perfect he knew full well his creations could sin if they were given free will-SO WHY TEST THEM?! These stories are quite frankly ludicrous! How does anyone believe that these are not completely man-made?
