I have many friends of various religions, but the Christians and Muslims appear to look down on me and all my other friends. Is it a pre-requisite of the newer Abrahamic religions to look down on all others, including Judaism which gave birth to both? This is not all inclusive, but I've found the vast majority of Christians to have this "holier than thou" attitude, and a good portion of the muslims do as well. I have yet to meet an atheist, Wiccan, Hindu, Selist, or Lecumi who act this way.

Summer Nights Chris: Considering the attitudes of the thousands I have met, I'd really prefer not to meet anymore thank you very much.

Submission: I understand how your faith could interfere with contacts outside your religion, but this is not what I'm talking about. That I can respect. It's the attitude that members of a given religion are somehow better, or above others, leading to them showing contempt, or hostility towards those outside their group that I'm referring to.

They are very social with each other. They like to label people as within their group or not which only compounds the overwhelming ignorance.
They only listen to those who think like they do which thwarts their intellectual and emotional development

I am Muslim and I am not anti-social. I do not feel I am better than anybody, though I will admit to being very selective about who I associate with on a personal basis. I live a clean lifestyle- no smoking, drinking or drugs, and I pray 5 times a day. I avoid activities that go against my basic principles and standards. This DOES NOT mean I am "holier than thou" in any way, I just prefer to keep a good, decent lifestyle for myself and my family. If this comes across as me looking down on others, I apologize sincerely. I really don't object to what others do, I just prefer not to do it myself. I hope you understand what I am saying.

Just because your intimidated from others, doesnt mean others are anti social.
There are idiots in all walks of life.
Naturally, there are more christians and Muslims in the world, then Hindus and Jews!!! What do you expect??? There are hardly any jews around, and they tend to keep their belief to themselves for many reasons.
As for christians and Muslims, most of them who "say they are christian or Muslim" does not mean they really are!!!
You need to get some therapy to see why you think so narrow mindedly.
If this is the attitute or most people around the USA and UK, i sure will not want to be part of it. Ignorance has won again....

because they are taught to be this way. Just like you are taught to hate homosexual .and black people. Read the Bible and you can see where a lot of this hatred comes from and dont forget the Koran. The muslim are with out a doubth crazy people as a whole. Do you eveer here a muslim say anything agains whatis happening in the world. They are silent for now but when the tyde is turned in there favor ,,, and it will ,,,then they will geet on the bandwagon and you will be there enemy. They give there approval by there silence.

You have not met most of us then.
Edit*
I can understand the point as to where you come from, but there are some of us out there that care about people more than ourselves. I'm sorry you met some rough christians, but there are still millions out there that have a different outlook then the ones that you described.

Honestly, I have to agree somewhat. I have met MANY Christians who are to rude and do act as though God stamped them on the forehead with a Admit to Heaven pass. I have met a few Muslims who are just so obnoxious....but, when you grow up a certain way, you tend to act that way. No fault of the religion, just their upbringing from childhood..

All the Christians on my campus seem very social to me. They do travel in packs, but generally they're nice people. I do live on a very liberal campus though, so maybe its just the Christians around there that are nice.

I'm an atheist but I have noticed Atheists have there noses up at everyone else. They always say other people are wrong (myself included) theists do that sometimes, but not the majority as I've seen.

Christians and Muslims arent all that tolerant toward other religions. Buddhists and Hindus are more tolerant. I'm making blanket statements here but with no wish to offend..It just seems that way to me.
