Since that creation failed to heed the warning about the knowedge was it an imperfect creation by one who is presented as perfect?
Did the perfect creator create the situation to create a base of fear and punishment ?
How can such an entity be rightly spoken of as perfect?

What on earth was he growing that plant for in the first place? The suggestion was that it was special stuff for gods only. Which gods? Just him? Why would he need a fruit?

There needs be opposition in all things. People could not make choices unless choices were presented. So the knowledge of good and evil was necessary so that we would be able to make informed decisions.
People think that having the knowledge of Good and Evil is a bad thing...it isn't...it is essential to our growth and progression in this life and the next. Is it easy? Heck No! Necessary things usually aren't.

GOD does not have to test anything. He gave us choice with the free will.
God is perfect even if you do not like what is that kind of perfect like.
