The Christians wouldn't respond last time, so I'm trying again...

Jesus said in Mark 2:25-26 that David ate bread from the house of God "in the days of Abiathar the high priest".

I Samuel 21:1 says that it was Ahimelech that was priest when David ate the bread...

Abiathar was son of Ahimelech, as stated in I Samuel 22:20

If Jesus had made the mistake the other way around, the mistake could be overlooked, because possibly the father could still be prominent, but in this case no matter what angle you see it, there is no way you would say "in the days of" the son.

Furthermore, Ahimelech wasn't just around, he was directly involved in this historical event, so why reference another person?

Clearly a mix-up, but who's to blame? Read the chapters for yourself, the references are correct

Quetalcoatl is the Feathered Serpent God(?) of aztec or Mayan religion supposedly returning at end times (similar to The Beast in Revelations)
Are the similarities coincidental?

I was raised Catholic, but when I studied Greek Mythology I found a connection and realized the only reason God exists is through imagination. (I don't mean to offend anyone, really) I have a valid reason to not believe in God, it's just that I don't think my parents would agree.

Especially because of the religion I have taken up, Satanism. She found some inveresed penagrams drawn on something a while back and I was in a lot of trouble for 'worshiping the devil' I want to explain to her that Satanists don't go around and kill kittens or eat little children like everyone believes.

She thinks anyone that worships the Devil is bad, but in reality it only makes since. He became a bad figure because he tried to please himself and overtake God, now I don't know anyone that doesn't like to be satasfied. That's all it's about, we don't believe there is a god and a devil. Heaven or hell.

How do I say this to her?? Thanks in advance.

No offense, but i expect atheist to put down religion, but why do I always see Christians rant and try to stir up atheist? I believe Jesus said turn the other cheek,go out and make disciples and be a light to the world! I tried so long to come up with reasons atheist could be wrong, but I stopped because God tells us to live by faith, not by sight. I was so worried with debating others of how my religion was right and there views where wrong that I forgot to realize that God will be the only one I have to answer to. Jesus told us to go out and Teach his word not debate, argue, and put down others who think differently. Are 2nd greatest commandment is to love thy neighbor as thyself, but you would never be able to tell by some of the post I read on here by "Christians".

Quoting scripture and all is one thing, but criticizing, belittling, and blasting someone for there beliefs is another and unchristian like.

This does not apply to all Christians because some are very wonderful, but

I understand that the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox are not in communion with one another. The Oriental Orthodox reject the 6th Ecumenical Council and claim it contradicts the 3rd? Ecumenical Council most decisively. I am aware they also only accept the first 3 Ecumenical Councils and regard the 4th as heretical.

I am aware that the split was over Christology. The Eastern Orthodox accuse the Orientals as being Monophysite or Miaphysite. The Oriental Church accuses the Eastern Church of being Nestorian. Although the Eastern Orthodox refuse the title Nestorian, and the Orientals I have heard reject both the Miaphysite and Monophysite (and Eutychian(sp) ) titles.

So what do these Churches actually believe about the will(s) and nature(s) and person of Christ? Also, what seperates these Churches in theology so that they are not in communion with each other?

Finally, which of these Churches do you think holds closest to the understanding of the Apostles?

people say that when sufis ask muhammad for help and say salaam to him they are (nausubilla) ascribing partners to HIm. is the concept of sufism shirk? when sufis ask someone for help they mean to only ask that person to connect to God and ask him for us. we are such sinful people that we cant connect with God directly. so sufis just try to connect to God through one that is holier than them. how is any of this shirk?

ALSO: is it true that stuff one says in vain is not held or counted against one by God?

I'm certainly new to the idea of Paganism (and recognizing there are several varieties of Paganism), but I am not new to a faith in Love and Life.

For 37 years I've walked that path, but it never dawned on me to personify it or add rituals.

I'd like to understand why and how you've selected the deities and rituals you have, what purpose they serve, and how essential they are to your growth.

when they fail to lure people to their side through rational debate? Don't they realize it makes them appear desperate and pathetic?

A good example is the abortion/breast cancer lie they have been perpetuating for years. It has been disproven by countless studies (including a recent one by Harvard University) and rebuked by the overwhelming majority of leading experts in the medical community. Yet they still cling to this lie as if it were indisputable fact.

Suppose that you are now God -- it doesn't really matter how, or why, or whether there ever was one before. You have absolute power over the Universe. How would you run things?

Would you stick around here on earth and be involved in the day-to-day goings on, or would you remain aloof and unseen?

Would you feed the starving masses and stop needless suffering, or would you "test their faith" or "give them the chance to learn about themselves" with famine and pestilence and natural disasters?

Would you use your infinite powers to sit down with each and every person and explain yourself to him personally, with the wisdom only an infinite being could bring to bear; or would you entrust your Word to flawed and corruptible humans?

Would you insist on "original sin", or would you forgive and forget and let each new human be born with a clean slate?

Never mind what your church's bible says about such things -- it's now entirely YOUR decision to make.

What would you do?

British Secret Service, MI6, has published an alarming report in the Sunday Express magazine revealing that some 200 million Christians in 60 countries around the world are at risk of suffering persecution,
The report reveals that in the Sudan, for example, “thousands of Christians have been massacred and the fundamentalist government has done little to protect them
Jesus says that if they persecuted Him, they will persecute us as well.

Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also (John 15:20).

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:10-12).

I was in the shower this morning and I thought I saw a huge furry spider and I jumped and freaked out and then I looked again and it was gone. Also the other day I thought I saw my dad walk into a room, but it turned out he wasn't even home and nothing was in the room. Is this normal. I am 14 if that helps. Also I am a born again christian, I'm not on any drugs, and I'm not into tarrot cards or anything and I never have been. Also I have been sleeping with my bedroom light on for the past two days just in case I see something.

Could they one day be used against women if fundamentalist Christians gain too much power in this nation ?

"Any woman who prays with her head unveiled dishonors her head. It is the same as if her head were shaven, for if a woman will not veil herself then she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven , let her wear a veil. (1 Corenthians 11 :5).

Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed ADULTERY with HER already...-----(MATT 5:028)

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at HOME, good, OBEDIENT to their HUSBANDS... ------ (Timothy 2:005)

Likewise, ye wives, be in SUBJECTION to your own HUSBANDS. ----- (1PE 3:001)

Women should remain SILENT in the Church. They are NOT ALLOWED to speak, but must be in SUBMISSION, as the Law says. – (1 Corinthians 14:34)

"I permit NO woman to TEACH or have AUTHORITY over men". –( 1 Timothy 2:11-14)

For atheists, what is the point of it all? I mean if life is nothing but 40-80 years of taking breaths and heart beat, buying a few music albums, chasing after a few fashion fads, work some random jobs and then poof nothing, doesnt that make life the most stupid and pointless thing ever.

And as an atheist, why obey any law or elevate your character at all if there is no point to it all - if we are all just stardust and nothing else. Why not just live life grabbing and taking whatever you can with the short amount of time you have?

Maybe thats why children of atheist tend to dress up in black and hang out at the mall being delinquents cause they were never told life was about something more

What happens when the Watchtower Society has "New Light"? Let's say that you were Disfellowshipped for questioning the Society?....What if later "New Light" showed the Watchtower Society that what you thought was in fact accurate. ( Like " I didn't believe that Armageddon would come by 1975" )....Would the Elders who disfellowshipped, you and the Jehvahs Witnesses who shinned, you be bloodguilty of stumbling you, and this inable to receive Gods blessing and thus lose their salvation?

Or are you speaking of people being kinder? Well that is definetly not true, more people are divided on issues like bipartisan politics, religion on a global basis, the Government not trusting anyone by wanting to install cameras to watch are every move
Of course Global Warming becoming worse.to the World Bank and the United Nations, from 1 to 2 billion humans are now malnourished, indicating a combination of insufficient food, low incomes, and inadequate distribution of food. This is the largest number of hungry humans ever recorded in history
How is the world improving?
