Suppose that you are now God -- it doesn't really matter how, or why, or whether there ever was one before. You have absolute power over the Universe. How would you run things?
Would you stick around here on earth and be involved in the day-to-day goings on, or would you remain aloof and unseen?
Would you feed the starving masses and stop needless suffering, or would you "test their faith" or "give them the chance to learn about themselves" with famine and pestilence and natural disasters?
Would you use your infinite powers to sit down with each and every person and explain yourself to him personally, with the wisdom only an infinite being could bring to bear; or would you entrust your Word to flawed and corruptible humans?
Would you insist on "original sin", or would you forgive and forget and let each new human be born with a clean slate?
Never mind what your church's bible says about such things -- it's now entirely YOUR decision to make.
What would you do?

American Beauty -- I don't think you could be more dense if you were made of neutronium! We already established -- the old rules of "blasphemy" no longer apply! And it's not "assuming" ANYthing! We're playing "Let's Pretend"! "The Land of Make-Believe"! Hell, even Mr. Rogers did that, and he was a MINISTER, for crying out loud!

This question relies heavily on our own understanding of the universe. Let me ask you, can you see all things? Do you know all things throughout all time? I can only see things from my perspective and my point in time and space. How then can we judge whether or not God is doing the right thing? We can't see the whole story unfolding.
God is good. He has all the power of the universe and all the knowledge of time. He also has a plan. We only live in an instant. If I only lived for five minutes and saw a doctor cutting into a person to perform surgery, I would think all doctors were evil. But if I knew that the doctor was doing this to bring about a greater good, I would feel better.
It doesn't matter what we think or do because we are just humans. I might say, "Give everyone on earth everything they want." But look at how many spoiled children exist because parents do the same thing. In fact, those children who suffer hunger are happier than those who get what they want. Why? Because those who suffer learn to be happy with what they have, while those who get what they want always want more.
We are called to trust in God. What this means is that though we might not see all things, we must trust that God will do what is best. Otherwise, what you are asking is dangerous. You are asking people to take God's place and assume that we know what is best. We don't know what is best. We are not God and can't see things from God's perspective. We live on earth, not in Heaven.

First of all, I would write a book of rules or parables MYSELF; not through people.
I would not feed the hungry. If I took care of every ones ailments, they would become too dependent on me, and no one would grow and they wont find themselves.
Evil will still exist with me as God, because I don't think there is any good to being good if there is no other option.
I would not sit down with each and every person and explain myself to them. However, for every single grown person on this planet, at some point in their life I will provide them two coincidences that coincides with each other, that is undeniably the work of Me, and this coincident will help that person understand them self, the universe, and/or the way things work.
Not everyone will be born with a clean slate. You are born of your parents, and if they never redeem them self before you are born, then you will be born with their sins and it will be up to you to redeem yourself for your children. Know what I mean? You'll be born with the same mistakes as your parents, and the same corrections. So not every one will be born with original sin, but not every one will be born with a clean slate either.

What would I do? The same thing what was before even let's say, I am the first one to become God. Being God does not imply control over infinite spiritual power and capriciously utilizes it according to His wimps, rather a being who is in agreement of its true spiritual being - like a mind in agreement with its heart.
God is one who understood perfectly his true essence - this is why in some faith He, too, is called a Holy Spirit. We, on the other hand, an ego that strives on spiritual energy whose knowledge about its essence is imperfect. You are right, we can become God because of the potential that is made available to us being the spiritual image but to fully realize such potential requires serious inner work and devotion to understand true self.

I'd reveal myself through science fiction writers, so that no one would believe I existed. Then I'd sit back and watch the fun. Or I'd appear to everyone in dreams as an image from the collective unconscious, so that people would write poetry and songs about me. But I'd prefer the varied images and metaphor, because I'd get tired of hearing about myself all the time--straight worship would be so boring and probably insincere in the end. I really don't know where I'm going with this, but then again, I'm not God, so I can't really say what I'd do!

If I were perfect, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, I would not take action to create anything.
If I suddenly became this (I wouldn't be eternal, of course, so that might be a problem) with the world as it is today, it is tough to know what I would do as such a being.
Now, if I were just omnipotent, I'd probably erase everything and start over again such that suffering would not exist.

Are you kidding??? I'd wipe everything out and start the heck over! I have a few up-front stipulations in mind:
There would be exactly ONE worldwide government and it would be run by whales.
There would be 5 human genders instead of two. "Male" may not necessarily be one of them. Depends upon my mood at any given moment.
All wars would only have a 3-month time limit and must only be fought in Antarctica.
Ice cream and beer would both be major food groups and would grow on trees.
All the stuff that I don't like doesn't get to exist anymore (artsy-fartsy foreign films, plaid, traffic, BET, Paris Hilton, etc...).
John Belushi's birthday would be a universal holiday.

I believe that the true God of this Universe is indeed aware of all that is happening at all times and somehow I'm sure that even if I don't understand all the universal details things are proceeding properly as they should. I also believe that one day somewhere I will come to know all the details and it will all be good and make perfect sense.

I would obliterate mankind and rethink this whole earth. We are such a disapointment to God that I would not have the fortitude to endure it.
I would not deal with people as kindly as God has.

I would eliminate all the evil in the world and let people live their lives, there would be no punishment for not believing in me or whatever, I wouldn't even send my son to the planet, I wouldn't need anyone worshipping me, people would not know that there is me but I would help them :D
