Pagan is a term which refers to people who don't believe in a single God. In the last 20 years people have adopted the term. It was an insult.

Wicca is a legitimate tradition - not religion. It is not the old religion of the UK and should not be confused with it. Wicca in modern times is influenced by mythology, poetry, Gnostic Christian worship of nature during the10th Century, the hippy era of the 1970's, LSD and some minimal occult influence.

Wicca is named so because of the use of wicca figures in ceremonies. If you don't use wicca figures, you aren't a Wiccan. It's rare that either word, Pagan or Wiccan is used accurately here on Answers.

Wicca is a specific form of paganism, utilizing a combination of new, recreated and (debatably) surviving pre-Christian primarily Eurpoean pagan traditions.

Paganism in general can apply to many different traditions around the globe.

Paganism basically means a pre Christian religion of which Wicca is one of many like druidism. it is also a form of one of the oldest uk belief systems. To neal9jsg you're talking rubbish Wicca is a religion as there is a belief in gods pity you didn't learn anything in the last 20yrs. you also said "Wicca is a legit tradition not a religion" then you said "It is not the old religion of the uk" so you do actually admit it's a religion then. one word neal ignorance.

Pagan is a broad term that means different things depending upon the context of the conversation.

In its MOST BROAD usage it means "Non-Christian"
In its most narrow usage it means "practicioner of pre-Christian Hellenistic-influenced folk religion".

Wicca is ONE pagan religion. One could argue that Druids and Asatru are also pagan, but Asatru would say that they are NOT, that they are heathens.

Paganism beinbg such a broad and often misunderstood term - there really is no "traditional" paganism.
