christians often say, that only something amazing could create the earth, humans, the eye, a cell, etc etc etc .

i agree, but that amazing thing is nature, and it is bigger, older and more amazing than any of your gods.

Let's start the service now. I say we start by worshipping me for 5 minutes. Then whoever posts the first answer, then the second etc. for 5 minutes each.

What if we're wrong? Well we can't be - if we switch gods every 5 minutes we're bound to hit the right one eventually.

I have been trying to find the right (hopefully Christian) religion to follow, but so far have not been successful. An issue I have is that animals are a huge part of my life, and I have not found a religion that supports this integral part of who I am. None seem to place much importance on animal well-being, and all seem to believe that animals lack souls and an afterlife, a belief I simply do not agree with and do not want forced on me, as I have recently lost three pets. Another complication is that I work as a zookeeper, and because God's animals need care seven days a week, I will usually need to take care of them on Sunday, and will therefore be unable to attend church on the traditional day. I think I would also appreciate a religion that allows its members the freedom to pose questions and form their own beliefs, rather than blindly following what is told to them. Does anyone have any suggestions for a religion that could fit with my beliefs and lifestyle?

Do you take it literally? Is it meant to be taken literally? Or should it be viewed as a allegory or a series of symbols?

Jesus prayed--"your will be done on earth---
What is God's will for the earth? Is His purpose for it still the same as it was in the beginning?

on the arc that was 200 years more advanced than any other ship whilst a massive flood did away with the whole human race?
Or is it all just made up nonsense from years ago when people would have believed anything?

Why would God write a book, especially a book so important that our eternal salvation depends upon our proper understanding of it, and deliberately obscure the message so it can’t be easily understood?

Some people say you have to take the bible literally and some say symbolic. So why would God make his instruction manual for life with so many ways to interpret it? Seems to me God would want every one to understand it easily and straightforward without having to search for different meanings for what everything means

when they answer with just a reference to scripture, e.g. Romans: 5,6,7,8, hut, hut, hike?

Do they really expect anyone is going to read through 10 pages of mind-numbingly boring and irrelevant bible quotes? Or worse have the desire to track down every bible quote reference to see what the heck their argument was? It's like they expect us to go on some biblical treasure hunt just to figure out what their point was. Well, I guess God does work in mysterious ways.

So do the not-so-bad unbelievers get... flames that aren't so hot?

I just think burning flames for more than 100,000,000,000 years (infinity... but I'm just tossing in a big number) is a bit overboard for that poor kid... who led a peaceful life, loving others, following buddhist ways... and who was only 15 when he was murdered, old enough to make the decision to not accept Jesus or the Christian God, but he was saturated in the wrong culture, wrong religion... poor kid

One of the commandments states Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Why not Thou shalt not commit rape?

I am not saying adultery is ok but I am sure that the vast majority of women are going to agree that they would rather their husband cheat on them than rape them.

Is God saying that it is worse to cheat than to rape your wife?

you can pray to God for forgiveness, and accept Jesus Christ into your heart
try reading something from the bible and ask yourself do you feel more peaceful, or anything?

Or do you think God gives you all the teaching skills you need? If so, why do *any* teachers need to bother with teaching certificates?

I'm a christian and one day wants to be a youth minister or a speaker. I know and believe that fear God is very important for if you do not fear him then you do not love or respect him as God. And I believe in christ.....But I don't feel I believe it with every ounce of my being! I know I'm to fear God but I don't feel I fear him as much as I'm supposed to! Am I doing something wrong? And also I sometimes feel great inside and feel as though his presence is within me but sometimes I feel nothing and it bothers me! Am I really a christain if I don't believe it with every ounce of my mind?
