So do the not-so-bad unbelievers get... flames that aren't so hot?
I just think burning flames for more than 100,000,000,000 years (infinity... but I'm just tossing in a big number) is a bit overboard for that poor kid... who led a peaceful life, loving others, following buddhist ways... and who was only 15 when he was murdered, old enough to make the decision to not accept Jesus or the Christian God, but he was saturated in the wrong culture, wrong religion... poor kid

It doesn't matter "what kid I'm talking about"... its not like that EXACT situation never occurred. In fact, its surely occurred many thousands of times.

So why does Christianity and the Bible have so much fire & brimstone if hell isn't a big deal? Why the references to torment, and burning?

Only one of many reasons why I have no belief in your religion or god.

It makes NO sense to me either. So JUST because Ghandi never accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour he's spending eternity in Hell, frying? He was the SINGLE most peaceful person of the last 100 years, a total Saint in my view and HE has to go to hell while someone who committed MASS murder but "repented" 5 minutes before he was executed gets to GO to heaven? Not ONLY doesn't that make any sense to me, it's INJUSTICE carried out to the MOST extreme. If That is the actions of a Just and Loving God, then I freely choose to go to Hell, no need to judge me to go there, I'll find my OWN way there ,if you Please.

God judges those who have not heard of Jesus by their own standards. He does not automatically send anyone to hell just because they never had the opportunity to hear about salvation.
Hell, by the way, is separation from God through eternity because one chooses not to accept God. God honors that choice and you will have a point in time when you stand before him and your choice is spoken for all to hear. At that point you will know exactly what it is you reject but the choice will have been made. The torment of "hell" is spending eternity knowing exactly what you chose to reject and knowing you made the worst choice possible.

The idea of hell and the devil were invented by the people who invented religion to scare people into believing what they wanted them to believe. Not everyone was buying their outrageous stories, so they resorted to insults (calling non-believers "fools", etc.) and threats. What's sad is that people still do that even in this day and age.

Good questions. Ever wonder if hell really does exist? And if it does, how do you avoid it? And if you CAN avoid it, should you not only save yourself but help save as many as you can? Seems to me, those are pretty important questions.

If there is a Hell, from reading Dante's Inferno, send me to the nineth level. I prefer to freeze for all eternity.
