One of the commandments states Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Why not Thou shalt not commit rape?

I am not saying adultery is ok but I am sure that the vast majority of women are going to agree that they would rather their husband cheat on them than rape them.

Is God saying that it is worse to cheat than to rape your wife?

Pretty much. Rape was a-ok with them back then, as long as the rapist marries the victim. Didn't you know?

Nope, you see, because women are property, so they are covered under "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's."

You see, according to Biblical literacy, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RAPE....if your husbands do it, it's 100% okay and if another does it it's theft from your hubby or your dad.

And people follow this religion why?

EDIT: No, IT DOESN'T say it elsewhere in "the law" Christianity and Judaism have no laws against RAPE. (Islam sort of does) THIS is why there are secular governments and secular laws, because the Bible is NOT PERFECT and is NOT ENOUGH.

Such simplistic, literalist questions just highlight the need for a reliable, infallible source of scriptural interpretation and moral guidance. Christ told His Church, "whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven". His Church teaches as binding truth that all sexual immorality, including adultery, fornication, rape, masturbation, homosexuality, pornography, child molestation, etc. are contrary to the Law of God, and are covered under the 6th Commandment. Further, all forms of violence against others are covered under the 5th Commandment, Thou Shalt Not Kill. Rape is therefore a violation of this commandment as well.

What about being raped by a stranger? As long as you pay the father and marry her that's OK.

Rape was ok. Women were property. You could do what you want with them.

As long as you've got 50 shekels and the woman isn't engaged, you're golden.

You are taking one section of the Law and asking why does it not say more, or something else.
It does. Elsewhere in the Law.
